Celebrating the reason this all began….
Today, my lil' man turns 5 years old. Just typing it makes me feel like I have been punched in the stomach! I can't believe Andon turns 5 years old today. As we celebrate another year of his life, I had to stop and share this.
He is the reason this all began.
Yes, if you read through our personal finance story, you'll see that his health diagnosis while we were pregnant spurred me onto find another way to help us pay those bills and continue paying off our debt. 5 years later, I can stand here and tell you that we have paid off more than $200,000 in debt of all kinds: consumer debt, medical bills, car loans, student loans.
And yes, that was 200 thousand dollars – the price of a house!
Some of that was as a result of my money savvy ways, and other was a result of increased income. While I do believe you can be frugal, I also believe in increasing your income to help expedite the process wherever you can.
So, as another year passes of our youngest son's life, I wanted to pause and take a minute to share that this site is around because of what we went through. This site continues because what you're going through. I would love to hear your personal finance stories.

Facing the challenges really did inspire us to think differently about our finances. Now we're focusing off paying off the mortgage and investing more in our future. That is an entirely different post, one that I'm excited to be writing figuratively and literally.
Happy Birthday Andon Joe!
Andrea, that is a beautiful post and reminds me about how we met on cincymoms and how I have loved following your success through the years. My family has come a long way, too: Matt is graduating from college this year with no debt, and Mary got married last year, and we were able to pay for her wedding with no debt. We both have been greatly blessed, Andrea. Love you, and congratulations on your anniversary. <3
Thank you, Chris!! I can’t believe your son is almost finished with school!! It doesn’t seem like it’s been that long since we’ve known one another. I’m so thankful that I know ya!!
Amazing what inspires us as parents. Similarly u was sharing with an old friend tonight the importance of what can be a priority adjustment for my family of four. Thanks for sharing your journey!

What a testimony to your resilience and ingenuity – and God’s grace and mercy. Thanks for all of your inspiration! We’re getting close… the end of our debt (besides the house) is in sight. And that, in turn, means that a new-to-us vehicle is entering the conversation for real!
Continued blessings on your journey!
Thanks for the sweet comment, Annie! Good luck to you on this journey too! So excited for you!!
