Shopping the store before Black Friday has worked for you? Wow I’m shocked–here where I live most stores put all the black friday specials out in totally odd places and usually while they’re closed thanksgiving evening. I will be in a different state this year for Black Friday so I wonder if that’s my area or now. What stores/areas have you had success in?
Amanda, I’m specifically talking about doing a walk through the store before hand not buying before hand. This has worked with me at Walmart and Kohl’s.
OH yes, I was with you on that statement. But at my walmart for example, clothing deals aren’t put up until an hour or so before the deal goes live (when you would have had to be in line a long time before for a hot item), and for example a laptop special might be in the freezer section of the store. And everything is shrink wrapped with an employee keeping watch until the deal starts. You have to ask for a specific deal at the front door, then they’ll tell you where to stand in line waiting, but no items are out to be seen….Do your stores not do this?
I’ve had a lot of success going to walmart before the 4 or 5 a.m. sales start. The past couple of years they have been opening at midnight, but not having doorbusters until the usual time.
I just go in at midnight, and most of the items on my list are still on the regular shelves (they bring out a whole skid of the items and put them in different places throughout the store) I then make my way around the stoor picking up each item on my list, and then just have to find something to entertain me until the sale actually starts.
They have the big ticket items with their own individual lines throughout the store as well, so this is a good time to take two or more people if you are interesting in getting anything expensive.
The past two years I have been in line to check out by the time the sale actually starts.
