Homemade Goo Gone
I cannot tell you how many times this Homemade Goo Gone is used in our home in a week. All of the stickers that come on merchandise nowadays are like cemented on. And is it just me or are the TJ Maxx stickers the worst to take off? I understand why they're on there like that, since it would be very easy to swap stickers (shakes naughty hand at the people who would do that). But, man, it's a pain to do. That is unless you have this goo gone recipe handy!
Goo Gone is great to help you remove any type of sticky residue too! If you've found that you have run an object through the dishwasher with the sticker still on, this solution makes it much easier to remove. Since the wetting and drying of a sticker just seems to reinforce the cementation to the object for some reason! I'm sure there is a scientific reason behind it, but it's a pain regardless of science!
And, parents, you are gonna love this one! This also works great to get paint, gum and sticky candy out of carpets. Yes, it really does!
Homemade Goo Gone Ingredients
- 1/4 cup, Olive Oil or Vegetable Oil
- 1 Tbsp, Orange, Lemon or Lime Juice
- 3-5 drops, Citrus Essential Oil (buy here)
Place all ingredients in a small spray bottle, shake well to combine. Store in refrigerator.
How to Remove Sticker Residue
- Shake well before each use.
- Spray small amount on area to be cleaned.
- Allow mixture to sit for 10-15 minutes to absorb into residue.
- With a paper towel or lint free cloth wipe away sticker/residue.
- Repeat as necessary.
An 8 ounce bottle is around $5 at the store. However, making your own will only cost around $1 – significant price difference! I'd recommend making this in small batches since it is a natural product and will go bad.
