DIY Microwave Popcorn ~ Cheaper and Healthy
The following Best Savings Tip comes from reader, Heather:
Microwave popcorn can get expensive, especially if you eat it all of the time….like my family. My sister shared this great DIY recipe during our last visit.
Here's what you will need to make your own microwave popcorn:
- Large Jar Popcorn Kernels
- Brown Paper Lunch Bags
- Olive Oil
- Sea Salt
- Place about 1/4 cup kernels into brown bag and fold top over about 3 times.
- Microwave for 1 minutes 45 seconds to 2 minutes 30 seconds (depending on microwave).
- Unfold the top of the bag and drizzle 1 tbsp olive oil over popcorn.
- Sprinkle with sea salt to your liking.
- Refold bag and shake for about 30 seconds.
- Open bag and enjoy :)
Not only is it cheaper than microwave popcorn, it is MUCH better for you! You can add any seasoning you would like! One jar of kernals will pop between 15 and 20 bags of popcorn.
