How to Flavor Water at Home
The following Everyday Savings Tip comes from, Renae of How to Have it All:
Beverages can really add to your grocery budget. Not only are a lot of drinks full of carbohydrates and calories they are expensive. Flavored water is an economical alternative that can easily be made at home! Fruit and vegetables gives water a really mild flavor but it provides enough to make it interesting.
Try adding one of the following to your ice water:
- Strawberries
- Orange
- Lemon
- Lime
- Cucumber
- Mint
- Mixed Berries
Slice the ingredient and place in the bottom of a glass. Slightly crush the fruit to release the flavor. Add ice and water and stir. If you are using frozen fruit, you can skip the ice cubes since the fruit will act as an ice cube and flavor enhancer!
I do this a lot mostly with cucumber, lemon or strawberries! I feel like I'm at a fancy spa but without the fancy price! See more of Renae's tips on how to flavor water at home at her site!

I never thought of adding cucumber to water. I’ll have to give that a try. This one’s probably obvious, but my favorite way of flavoring water is by making tea. Tea bags are inexpensive and they have so many flavors to choose from.
