Shop Local
One of the main reasons I started Savings Lifestyle Cincinnati and Savings Lifestyle Dayton was to support local businesses. They are what our community thrive and grow. I will go out of my way to support a local business versus a large retailer if given a choice anyday.
I especially like how many local business owners have a unique flair to their establishments. The coffee shop in my town has a play area where the kids can draw on the chalkboard while the parents can enjoy a cup of coffee.
Many local boutiques offer play zones for the kids as well. This not only makes me, as a mother, feel like I don't have to entertain my children and not let them touch anything but also makes me want to stay longer and possibly spend a bit more!
So as you ponder what to buy someone for Christmas. Take a look at the businesses in your town. See what unique gift ideas they have. Many will offer coupon codes and discounts during the holidays too (just remember to sign up for their newsletter).
Visit Happy Housewife to learn how to make a Tie-Dye Pillowcase. I may try this one!
What are some of your favorite local businesses?
