How to Make Oatmeal More Filling and Last Longer
The following Best Savings Tip comes from reader, Stephanie:
My kids love oatmeal but its rare I find a good deal on it. They go through a box so fast, and as they are growing young boys one packet never fills them up.
I have a way to make one packet of oatmeal go farther. I make the oatmeal as normal in the microwave and after it comes out I add about 3 tablespoons of Gerber whole grain rice oatmeal for infants. It doesn't affect the taste at all and it almost doubles the oatmeal portion, keeping my kids full and also giving them more whole grains all at once!
I've been doing this for 2 years now, my kids have never known a difference and our oatmeal lasts a lot longer now. Gerber infant cereal is about $1.80 a box and lasts me through 3 boxes of oatmeal. That's 30 bowls of oatmeal!

This is an interesting idea! Now instead of tossing out those baby coupons, I can save them to buy some infant oatmeal! Love it!
