Stock up on inexpensive conditioner like the VO5! This specific brand is often under 50 cents when on sale and using coupons (find printable coupons in our coupon database).

If you want to make a scented playdough recipe, use your favorite conditioner scents (although, I have grown to love the original Play Doh smell!). This recipe makes a super soft homemade playdough that smells great, and literally takes minutes to prepare.

Homemade Playdough Ingredients

  • ½ cup, Hair Conditioner
  • 1 cup, Corn Starch

You can also add some essential oils as you mix the dough to have additional scents if you prefer. This is totally optional.

How to Make Playdough

  1. In a small bowl mix together hair conditioner, corn starch and food coloring (if desired) until it forms a smooth dough.
  2. Knead the dough on a clean counter for 2-3 minutes to help incorporate well and make smoother.
  3. Depending on the brand and amount of liquid in your hair conditioner, you may need to increase the corn starch in small increments. 1-2 Tablespoons at a time until desired texture is achieved.
  4. Store in airtight container or plastic wrap when not in use.
