Cust Costs by Making Your Own Pre-Chopped Veggies
The following Best Savings Tip comes from reader, Debbie:
Instead of buying expensive pre-cut and pre-frozen veggies, save even more by doing this yourself at home. While you can do this with several types of vegetables, I mainly pre-cut chopped onions and green peppers. Doing this makes them last so much longer, and you won't find them going bad in the fridge either.
When you are cutting up the veggie for a recipe, go ahead and chop them all to freeze for later. Sometimes I flash-freeze them on cookie sheets and then place them in a baggie to freeze. Other times I will just put them all in the baggie as soon as they're chopped and it works fine too.
Whenever you need chopped onions or green peppers for another recipe, they are right there and ready. You don't even need to thaw them. When I chop more, I simply add them to the same baggie they were in before. A very simple tip that isn't time consuming, but well worth the money saved!
