Other Uses For Junk Paper
The following Best Savings Tip comes from reader, Kristin:
Our two school aged kids bring home a ton of flyers, notices, handouts, etc. that I used to simply recycle right away. Now, though, I have a bin where I keep a stack of those papers that have one blank side and reuse them in a variety of ways:
- Scrap paper for jotting notes. The smaller pieces are great for this!
- Make paper beads out of them. You can find various instructions online.
- Let the kids color, cut, and glue to their heart's content without having to pay for paper!
- Print up the weekly grocery shopping list on the scrap paper.
- I've even printed up coupons on the blank side and just crossed off the back side with a pen.
When we're done reusing the paper, it still goes in the recycling bin. I rarely have to buy paper because the stream of “free” paper is seemingly endless!

Great ideas!! I actually picked up a box of paper that had been printed on one side at a yard sale a few years ago. It was free! We've been using it ever since – I've had many coupons printed on them too!
Since you mentioned paper beads, I found the cute Paper Beads tutorial (pictured above) over at Let's Talk Junk. Looks like a simple DIY project too!
