Frugal Family Fun at the State Fair
The following Best Savings Tip comes from reader, Joan:
I enjoy attending our State Fair every year. One of my favorite exhibits to visit is in the Home and Family Arts Building. I love to stroll through the aisles of displays and see all the wonderful crafts and food exhibits so much I decided to submit my favorite cookies.
Participating in our state fair has saved me money the few years. For $30 you can register for the Home and Family Arts Open Class and each exhibitor will receive 6-one day passes with a paid entry fee. Normally, regular admission to our fair costs $8 per ticket. Since I receive the 6 tickets with my entry, basically the tickets cost $5 a piece and if I win an award then its even more of a discount.
The first year I came in second and received an $8 prize making my total admission cost only $22 for six people. This year I placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd which made my total winnings $$27. It only cost $3 for six of us to go to the fair! I have so much fun every year at the state fair and it's always brings the family together for a great day.

We are big 4-H fans and the fair was always a fun time. I never thought about the free tickets for entering the open exhibitions. That's a great idea! And look at Joan's winning cookies above – YUM!
