Watch Your Driving Habits to Save on Gas

The following Everyday Savings Tip comes from, Kathy:

My husband and I debated driving moderately (staying within 5 mph or so of speed limit, easy acceleration and braking, coasting where possible) and what it does for gas mileage. I challenged myself to watch these items for a full tanks worth of driving.

I got 400 miles from a tank, where my husband got 300 on a car with similar mpg. At 100 more miles a tank, driving 300 miles a week, 13 gallon tank, $3.25 a gallon, that's savings of $42 a month!

Have you ever tracked your mileage to see if it makes an impact for your gas budget?

  1. Ceiling fans! We have a ceiling fan in every room of the house! We hardly ever have the A/C on and when it is on we normally keep it around 75. With the ceiling fans running it keeps the house much cooler!
