Upromise eCoupons

Upromise.com

Oh, I was soooo excited when I read the tweet from Leslie on the new Upromise eCoupons. I've done the due diligence for you so you don't have to.

The basic rundown is that you load coupons on your Shopping Card to get additional discounts. These should work exactly the same as theShortcuts and P&G Esaver coupons, however, these discounts do not come off your grocery total, they are deposited into your Upromise account. Once your coupons are activated, you shop away! If you're new to Upromise, you can read my snack on the company here. It's a great great way to save for your kiddos college (or even pay on your student loans!) – every little bit helps!

The process to load the eCoupons was really simple to do. Here are some steps for you if you want to get some extra savings too (and, well, why wouldn't ya :-) :

  • Click here to join Upromise if you're not already a member.
  • Go to My Account to activate/enter your Shopping Card (Kroger and CVS for me). You can enter your zip to find participating stores in your area too!
  • Go to the top of the screen and select Earn Rewards then eCoupons.
  • Select eCoupons for your card – remember, Kroger's policy limits 45 ecoupons at any given time.
  • Click Activate eCoupons and you're done! The Upromise instructions were very straight forward.

I am going to test this one this week since Huggies Supreme diapers are on sale at Kroger for $9.99. There is a $1 Shortcuts coupon, a $1 Manufacturer Hard Copy Coupon, now this $1.50 eCoupons coupon. My OOP at the store will still be $8 but I'll receive a $1.50 deposit into my Upromise account which makes the net price $6.50 – still not cheap IMO BUT I'll be testing and spending for the greater good and your confidence that it works!

Enjoy! I'll be back to report when I do my weekly shopping! :-)

  1. wow! Thanks for that info! I would have never noticed them!

  2. I’m pretty excited about this new program. What a great, easy way to add a little extra money to your child’s college savings account!

Just so you know – the coupons add money to your Upromise account. It doesn’t take anything additional off @ the register. Hope that helps!

  3. Leslie – thanks for clarifying. That’s still a great reward IMO. I’ll update this to reflect that!

  4. Even if it doesn’t take anything off your total, you at least know the money you ARE paying isn’t being completely thrown away. It’s multi-tasking. ;)

  5. Hi Andrea. Just saw your post on Twitter and followed it over to your site. I’m with Upromise (oversee our online community) and I’m glad to see you’ve discovered eCoupons. Let me know if you ever have any questions related to our service. I’m happy to answer or at least provide some direction.

    Thanks,
    Jeff

  6. Jeff – thanks for the visit and offer! I love Upromise and am extremely excited about this program! I’ll be sure to tweet at ya if I have questions!

  7. Thanks for sharing! Honestly, I haven’t seem benefit from them (yet). I think, If you expect to get much out of Upromise, you better get grandma, grandpa, uncles, aunts, friends and everyone else on the stick. You really have to spend a lot to earn a lot. PLus, get their credit card, invest in their stocks…. and start when the kid is born :p Id still prefer shopping through a Rebate site that has a larger cash back with better coupon contents. One example is Savingswatch.com,Ive been hearing great things about them so I gave it a try. I’ve been very happy using the site so far.

  8. Recovering procrastinator says:

ok, so I’m a confused newbie. I registered my CVS card and credit cards on upromise. So now if I load an ecoupon, where does it go? On to one of those registered cards?

So if I load a Huggies coupon and then buy Huggies at CVS or at another store but using a registered credit card, does that amount automatically go into my account?

  9. Recovering – if you load those coupons to your CVS card that is registered with Upromise and make a purchase of that specific item, then the value of the coupon will actually be deposited into your Upromise account. It’s not anything off your purchase at the check-out but it will go into your Upromise account in like 3-4 weeks. HTH!

  10. By the way, on 10/1 a new set of eCoupons will be up on our site .

Give me a shout, Andrea or Recovering, if you have any questions.

  11. Jeff – thanks so much for the heads up on new coupons! We always appreciate previews of these things!! I just sent ya a DMA via twitter with the following question:

What has been the typical turnaround for cash back to be in someone’s account from eCoupons?

I saw the site stated 3-4 weeks but wondered if it happens sooner. Also, a suggestion: is there is a way we (as users) could get a notice that it has been deposited rather than going in each day (like me :-) and checking to see if my status has been changed to “redeemed.”

    Thanks again!

  12. Hi Andrea. That’s a great suggestion and one we’re looking into…ways to notify members when a reward is pending or posted to one’s Upromise account.

Please keep the ideas coming. It’s a great help to know what you and your readers think about the various aspects of Upromise, particularly as we look to simplify the program for our members.

    Thanks,
    Jeff

Can upromise be used for oneself for taking one course for example? I don’t need an account for youth going to college. (no kids) Or the money accrued given to someone else to use?

    thanks,
    Frances

  14. Andrea @ Mommy Snacks.net says:

Frances, you can’t use it for a class, but you can use the funds to pay for a Sallie Mae student loan.

I shared more on that in my post @:

  15. Thanks for the information. Can you still use an MFG coupon in the store?
