How to Make Homemade Teriyaki Sauce, aka Faky-Aki

The following Best Savings Tip comes from reader, Jennifer:

Instead of buying bottled Teriyaki Sauce for $2.99, which lasts 2-3 uses, try this recipe:

  • 2 tbsp, Soy Sauce {large bottle, $4}
  • 1.5 tbsp, Honey or Agave {large bottle, $4}
  • 1 tbsp, Tomato Paste {3 cans, $3}

Wisk everything together and marinate for 10 minutes.  It's tasty and healthier.

Even though you are spending $11 on the basic and essential ingredients, you are going to have 15-20 servings, if not more. That's less than $0.75 per serving (with no high fructose corn syrup).

I've made a Teriyaki Marinade recipe before, but not with the tomato paste in it. I'll be adding this to my repertoire. The best part was I had all of the ingredients required! And, you can usually get the Muir Glen organic tomato paste free or really cheap with coupons!
