Fat Burnin’ Friday: The Result of Perseverance!

I'm like a turtle, but that's OK :)

So, I have 2 pounds down this week! I gained those 4 pounds last month. I didn't lose any weight since that (three weeks ago) UNTIL this week. One to two pounds a week is a healthy loss, but in my case it's like .5 pounds a week and then it all happens at once! Either way, I'm fine with it!

You know, it got me thinking. If I would have given up, I know for sure I would have gained MORE than the 4 pounds I was trying to get back off. It is so easy to get super emotional over a weight gain! Especially since I have been trying for what seems like forever to rid these last few pounds!

This is a result of MY perseverance. My weight is going DOWN! I'm NOT going to give up!

I shouldn't admit this, especially during a week with an actual loss, but I didn't exercise. Well, unless you count the miles I know I walked on Monday and Tuesday. But, real hard-core I'mgonnasweatandnotlookpretty kinda exercise, I did not get to. Hubs was traveling so I couldn't get to my 6a routine. I could have used the treadmill, but I just decided not to. It's all about choices. Hopefully I'm not paying on the scales next week for the choice of NOT exercising this week.

So, no exercise and add in the holidays…am I setting myself up for a gain? I mean, the holidays are always a challenging time for eating. I haven't planned how well I will behave. It will probably be good though since we aren't planning any big celebrations. I think I will just focus on moderation.

Any plans for the holidays to ensure you stay on track? How was your week of exercise and weight results? I can't wait to hear about your week! I'm always happy with my progress but just as excited when you have good results too!!

    That is exactly what I have lost 28 lbs. since Feb/March. I have pretty much leveled out. The last 2 weeks I have been exactly the same…I have 5 lbs. to go for 1 goal and then another 6 to go. My problem is my weekends starting on Friday nite. For the first part of my big weight loss I was running 3 days a week with a group of friends. I just stopped a month ago because of an injury so then I have taken it to the gym with spin classes and body sculpt. Once a week I was doing a sculpt and Spin class with being dog tired on Friday. I am now doing 3 days of body sculpt as I want to define my muscles…no more bat wings…is my goal….Good luck to you. If you can join a gym with a kids club. It will be the best $10.00 a month you ever spend for 2 hours (each time you work out) of freedom. good luck on your journey.

      Kelly, Friday’s are the worst for me too! I don’t know why other than I have always given myself the weekend to be lax. I know I’d probably be at goal if I stayed focused on the weekends but I am all about moderation now so even if I have a piece of cake, it’s ok. And, that cake usually only does come on the weekends.

      We were members of a gym for a few months earlier this year. It was great to have the childcare! But, I have a hard time running inside so I wasn’t as motivated. Although, I had no alternative since I was NOT going to run in the frigid temps (I’m a wuss!). We cancelled our membership because of the nicer weather and the monthly fee was a little more steep than I wanted to pay to not use. I do plan on joining again next winter to get me through and since our youngest will be older he’ll enjoy it more too.

    Andrea, I never got my skort but am going out to look for them today. I saw some were on sale at Target but not sure if that has ended or not. I hope to get at least one, preferably in black.

    Anyways, week 3 is finished. No weight loss but no gain. Ugh! the frustration

      Kathy, great job this week with NO gain! I just stopped by and love your trainer’s perspective. It’s very interesting and will make me be more aware now!

    Ok so I’m not the brightest bulb when it comes to exercise or weight loss, but is some of the weight you gain not just muscle, not fat that refuses to budge? You do a lot of exercising so it just makes sense to me that rather than gaining (or not losing) pounds of fat it’s muscle. Ok I sound like I’m babbling but somewhere in MY mind it makes sense. Either way, girl, you don’t need to lose weight. Of course whatever makes you feel good is great!

      Kristin, some of the weight gain is muscle, you’re right. That’s why I changed up my routine to NOT do The Shred as I was, and do interval training (versus straight running 5 miles a day).

      The weight I gained may have been muscle but my clothes weren’t fitting the same. I’m so familiar with my body composition now so I know that it’s even though a lot of it is muscle, those other exercise routines I was doing was not helping me to lose the weight. Not that I’m on the downward again, I can tell my decision was right.

    I have been stuggling to get my last 15 pounds off. I have lost 46 so far. I have to say a huge part of my issue is I was training hard for a 1/2 marathon. Once I ran the 1/2 I had a few weeks of rest before I started my training for my full marathon. The time off on top of a knee issue has made it difficult to get fully back in the groove of things. This week I have stayed on track and not letting life get in the way of my workouts and I feel 10 times better about myself.

    With that said I have gone up 7 pounds since my 1/2 and tried on a pair of new pants I had just bought. They don’t fit me they way they did when I bought them. So, I know for a fact the added weight is not muscle but fat/water. That’s the first time I have had an issue with any of my clothing in my closet in a really long time.

    Here is to us girls keep on pace and moving forward to oru weight loss!!!

      Kelly – you ROCK!!! I had the SAME ISSUE training for a 1/2!!! I have heard that from SO MANY people that they gained weight! That’s why I re-evaluated my training/weight loss goals. I want to get to my goal weight before I start gaining weight, even if it is for something good like a 1/2 marathon. I know many people may not *get* that but I would feel better if I met goal before a big gain. Do you have plans to run another 1/2 soon? I’m so proud of your accomplishment!!

    So, what have you been doing to lose the weight? Are you counting calories, exchanges or points? What about your workouts? What did you start with?

    FYI on the skort. I went to Kohls today and if you can get one of those $5 email coupons it will make for some inexpensive skorts. They had FILA on sale and w/ the coupon it would be $15 and then they had their Kohls brand skort on sale too and w/ coupon it would be $8!

    I’m curious about how you’re losing the weight too. I had baby #2 one year ago, and still have about 10 pounds to lose from my 2 pregnancies. I can’t seem to get motivated to diet or exercise. You’re a great source of motivation, and I’d love some insight into what you’re doing, since it seems to be working.

      Jaime, it’s been lowering my caloric intake and increasing my daily exercise. You can look over previous Fat Burnin’ Fridays to see my progress/tips on what has worked. There has NOT been a magic pill…I don’t agree with that. It’s been all me and changing my behaviors, but it DOES work!

      Having little kidlets makes it more challenging but it’s even more rewarding in the end when you are at goal or close! YOU can do it…YOU will do it!
