Fat Burnin’ Friday: Support and Motivation

This past week was a rather dull fat burnin' week for me. I have gone crazy again with my eating so there has been no weight loss. But, I did do another 5k on Saturday with some good friends and we were all so giddy that we couldn't stand it (well, I wouldn't describe hubs as “giddy” but we girls were). Anyhoo, that made me think of this…

Surround Yourself with Support and Motivation!

This can come in many forms: friends, message boards, blogs and twitter just to name a few! It's so funny, I shared that I was doing this 5k on a local message board and several people responded with wishes of luck. I then tweeted on my 5k after I was finished and I got more congrats! It never hurts to have too much support or encouragement as you go through anything in life, especially something as challenging as weight loss!

The absolute best support of all for me are my friends, some of which are pictured below (and just so ya know, my hubs is my friend too :-) . Whenever I feel like I am feeling “too large and NOT in charge” they are always so encouraging! They help me to see my overall progress rather than the scale that hasn't moved in a while (like mine hasn't :-( .

Actually, I went to buy some new jeans this week and found that I dropped NOT one but TWO sizes. This additional size was only in one style of pants (honesty here). But, I was super psyched (and the cashier wasn't getting my excitement)! And, who did I call to share in this…well, my BFF of course! We were screaming together because she knows how committed I have been with this. And, I shared the fab news with my hubs and other GF's that night and we did the girly squeal some more (again, not hubs, but he gave me some encouraging comments which I shouldn't share here :-)

Here are the pics from the Race for the Hunger 5K. I was joking that I was doing the Race for the Hunger because I was hungry :-) You know, I am so darn funny!! Seriously, it was for a great cause in our area!

My BFF's will now be known as my “runnin'” BFF's: Gin, Me, Sue. As always, white girl in the middle (a forever long joke with us). I was so unbelievably proud of both of them since it was their first 5k. I was giving them all the worldly tips for this being their first race like I had been doing it forever…we got a kick out of it! Sue was high fiving people in the home stretch, which was cracking us up! Gin got a new cute Nike outfit for the occasion, which I wanted badly – it totally worked for her because she did awesome! You go girls!!

And, me and hubs (aka, Daddy Snacks). He placed 6th overall and 1st in his age group (which I placed 1st in my age group too just so ya know). He seriously didn't prepare at all. He is one of those runners that you can't stand. As you run dying and gasping for your last breath, he's not phased one bit!

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Who is your support and motivation? I hope that you find encouragement here. I am motivated by all of my readers that share their personal stories! If I can do this weight loss thing and be successful, anyone surely can! Be encouraged this week!

Disclaimer: Those people who are your support and motivation will also willingly eat ding dongs with you knowing that's what you need in that moment of weakness and they do not judge. So, we fall together too :-)

  2. Good for you! Not only are you doing something nice for yourself, but you’re helping some good causes with these races. I could use some motivation this week! I only went to the gym ONE TIME – yesterday. Sometimes you get into a rut and it’s hard to get yourself out of it!

    You are too funny! I was telling everyone at work about me high fiving people and we were cracking up. I couldn’t have done it without you and I’m so happy to have shared my first 5K experience with you guys. Can’t wait for the next one. Love ya!

    I am so proud of you guys. Ginger sure did look cute but then so did you and Susan. Way to go girl! I was thinking tonight maybe you could lull me to sleep by talking some motivation tips as I slip off to la-la land. HA! HA! Can’t wait until tonight, I am so ready for some inspirational speaking.
    Love ya! Dawn

    Andrea…it was so much fun and another great memory that we will all share together. You have always taken me under your wing from when we were young (cheerleading, school dances, becoming a mommy to this 5k and so many more I cannot list.) Thank ya again for being such a great motivator!!

    FYI the outfit wasnt necessarily for the race it just so happend that I got it right before the race.lol. Oh….and thank you Dawn for the nice comment.

    Love ya Gin
