Fat Burnin’ Friday: Just Plan It!

I need a planning swoosh. You know, like the Nike swoosh…get it :) I want to talk about planning a bit today. I think planning is so important in everything, right? I mean, I talk about it when I save money. It is even more critical to your weight loss/fitness success.

If you are anything like me, you: work, do the domestic stuff, cook, have animals or kids to take care of, a spouse to love on…and at the end of the day, there's no energy left. Well, I get like that a LOT! But, in that schedule I PLAN my exercise. I look at it as another task I need to accomplish for the day. Well, as I mentioned last week, I love to run now so I don't really consider it a daunting task since I look forward to. But, early on it was a task – just one more thing I needed to cross off my list OR feel super terrible if I didn't get to it.

But, I DID get my exercise in because I Planned it! And, I Just Plan It still today!

I found ways I could fit it in just like those other tasks that needed to get accomplished. It wasn't always the exact time each day. But, my main goal was to get it in each day. I would decline friends' invites to lunch or play dates because that time was set aside to get my exercise in. I sacrificed then so I could have more exercise flexibility today. It really does work!!

I have something I want to share with regards to what I'm planning. Many of you are not local, or even runners. But, several bloggy buds of mine are going to be doing some races through the next few months. I put together this document with a few details on each race. If you are local and want to run/walk with us, please let me know and I'll put ya on this list! If you aren't local and want to fly to Ohio and do these races, I will personally help you carbo load for it :)

Again, I know running/walking may not be your thing. Take this idea as something you can do to create your own long-term plan for challenging yourself and your workout! Are you an elliptical machine person? Well,write down how you will go even longer one day a month – like a 10k on the elliptical! Maybe you're a biker or spinner. You can easily find races too. Whatever it is that you like, find something to get planned on your calendar and commit to – even if it you just making up your own challenge! You will more than likely want to stay committed to it…especially if you pay an entrance fee in advance!

Oh, and I'll actually be running a 5k tomorrow. I haven't done a race since October so I am pretty excited. In January, I started training to run a half marathon. Well, I didn't blatantly mention this on here because I didn't want to mention it and then not be able to do it, which turned out to be the case. I got this amazing invite to visit Disneyand the piggies (in the Flying Pig) took the back burner! There will be MANY more pigs…but may not be as many cool Mickey and Chip & Dale luvin'! Plus, I talked to a few ladies (Laura and Maria) who have done the Disney Half (Princess) and Full Marathon. I am motivated to run the half one day (NOT the full, Maria!!). Running at Disney, how cool would that be!?!? I definitely need to plan for that :)

On the weight this week. Well, no weight loss…or gain so that's good! I need to increase my mileage next week since I only got out three days to run this week (they were planned :). I'm hoping that a few more miles will help me drop those two pounds I gained a few weeks ago. How did you do? Do you have any big plans in your fitness routine coming up?

    Hey, I plan my workouts too! IF not I find every excuse to skip. I get up at 6 3 mornings a week and it still is tough to do when all I want is to sleep a few extra minutes, BUT it makes me feel so good the rest of the day! Plus I have some motivation to get running since I promised to do a 5k with you!! Can’t wait!

      Cortney, you MUST tell me how you manage to get up that early!!! And, YES, we are gonna run a 5k and not get sick!!!!

    I dont necessarily plan my workouts, I just kinda do the same things over and over again LOL If I can fit a walk in with the kids, if it isn’t too hot, then I do it. Otherwise, it’s the same routine on Wii Fit, using my resistance bands, etc. Maybe planning might help, because I’ve been stuck for about a couple weeks now at the same weight.

    Running at Disney!! I’d have the hardest time, because I’d want to stop and look and ooh and ahh LOL

    I just posted yesterday about planning my workouts. It went well yesterday, but not today. Baby steps!
