Fat Burnin’ Friday: Exercise and Travel

You know, I talked about exercise last week. And, while I do make it a priority, it's not like my most favorite thing in the universe (surprised :-)!

I was in LA this week and this is technically week #2 in my training for a race in May. Well, I knew I had to get some running in while I was gone because I didn't want to take the week off. I was hoping the hotel would have a functioning fitness center..it did not! What to do??? Well, here's what I did – I took a run on Sunset Blvd!

I wish I would have had my camera with me, but I'll be honest, it was a hard run for me and that would have probably put me on my knees out of breath! Luckily, I had Ashley with me and she kicked my butt! She has done several marathons and is hoping to quality for the Boston Marathon so she's like a serious runner (opposed to my wannabe serious runner status :-). It was so much fun to run in the beautiful weather and see some sites too!

So, if losing weight and getting fit is a priority for you, I would encourage you to make it work if you have to travel! I was proud of myself for going out for the run when I could have been sleeping a few hours longer (no kids and all…c”mon!).

And, my weight has stayed the same. Actually, I don't expect to see much movement on the scales since I'm training. I'll be running several miles and when I was running this much last fall, the weight didn't come off at all. It's still a goal of mine, but I'm more concerned with my endurance than that number on the scale right now!

How did you do this week? Do you have any plans to travel soon? How will you ensure you get your exercise in?

That is great, what part of the strip did you run on?
My husband has played at the Roxy, the Whiskey A Go Go & the Rainbow Bar & Grill. We haven't been back to LA in 4 years & we miss it.

I used to work with Ashley, she rocks. Hooray to you for running on a trip!

Have you ever heard of Surfshelf? Saw that Resourceful Mommy had one as prize for one of her parties. Wondering if you had checked it out — maybe they will give you one to give away —

funnyface – how cool! We ran past the Rainbow Bar. I didn’t realize it was a bar – I just saw a big rainbow!!

Carol – A Cowboys Wife (Lori, who also went to LA with us) got one of those. I am interested to see how it works. Thanks for the suggestion on giving one away!! I do appreciate it. I may contact them after I hear Lori’s review of it.

Good for you! I travel at least once a month for work and always make it a point to use the workout room. When I don’t I feel it when I get home.
