Diet & Fitness Snack: Fat Burnin’ Friday

I have a few friends who are now starting this fat burnin' journey! They have shared the soreness that they feel and the sweatin' they have been doing – GREAT JOB girls!!! But, the weight loss isn't quite there yet, granted it's only been 2 weeks but those first few weeks of weight loss are integral in the motivation department (for what it's worth, they look great :-)! One thing the trainer told them was…

Take your measurements

This something I've always said I should do, but never get around to it. Actually, Sparkpeople has a paper tape measure you can print off and tape together if you don't have one at home. I know measurements are as important as the scale, but there is just something about that scale that speaks to me…what about you?

I will say that since I've started my fat burnin' in January, I have not only lost what I have, but I've lost a pant size! I now wear the size I wore before I birthed me any babies and I'm still quite shocked at it everyday! Actually, therein lies a problem – I have lost so much weight and inches that I cannot fit into any of my old dress clothes. Believe me, I don't want to sound bragadocious, but it is an issue for little miss frugal ME! Not that I'm going anywhere to get dressed up but I do like to look nice at church on Sunday :-) So, I'm hoping I can wait out the summer and buy new clothes in the Fall. I'll even try to put the money into a “skinny ME budget” or something so I can make sure I stay within a budget when I have to splurge!

On the fat burnin' front, I lost 2 pounds this week – and I worked for every single ounce of it!! I continued my 41-minute workout as I did last week and I think that's what helped. It wasn't easy and I wanted to stop at some points because I was really challenging myself, but I pushed through because I knew that was the only way I could feel good about what I did (gotta feel the burn and sweat!).

How about you? Do you take your measurements at all? Let me know what your thoughts are on this too because I'm just interested to see how everyone monitors their progress – scales or measurements, or both! And, of course, please share your results this week – I'm always so excited to hear about your progress!

Good luck to ya this next week of fat burnin' – here's to some sweatin' and weight loss!

    Great job!!

I don’t take my measurements. I took initial measurements but it’s not something I keep up with. I monitor my process by the scale. However, as I get closer to my goal weight, it’s more about how I feel and my clothes fit not what the scale says.

I’ve never measured myself, but I wish I would have when I started losing weight!

I have the same problem and I know how it sound so braggy, but really it is annoying! Its great to get healthy/lose weight but when nothing fits and looks like crap because its so baggy it gets ya down. If only weight loss came with a magic clothes fairy:)

Wow, Andrea, you are so close to your goal! Think you’ll ever post before and after pics? ;-)

I am actually not trying to lose weight (please don’t hate me) but I do enjoy seeing your dedication and progress every week.

I’ve lost 30 pounds since December, and I’ve encountered the same situation with not having clothes! Luckily, I had most of my clothes from before I had my daughter 2 years ago and have been able to make them work, but for frugal ol me, I hate to spend full price on clothes. I found a thrift store nearby that I have been purchasing all my clothes and my daughter’s clothes at– great brands, great prices, MANY still with the tags on them. Can’t complain when I walk out of there with a huge bag of clothes items for under $15!

mom of 2 boys – I should have taken some measurements at the beginning of this journey, but didn’t! Wait until you lose and take your final measurements – you’re gonna be so excited! But, I’m with ya on how my clothes fit – if they are looser, I know I’ve done something right even though that mean ole’ scale isn’t moving!!

Mrs. Bargain Hunting Wife – I’m so glad you think it’s an annoyance too! Trust me, we don’t do much to have to get all “dolled” up but I like to look nice and those pants are really baggy now – blessings do come in baggy clothes :-)

Alyssa – I don’t even know if I have a really good pic of me when I started to see the true chubbiness I’ve lost :-) That is a good idea, I’ll have to try to round one up! And, girl, you’re crazy – I certainly wouldn’t hate ya – if you lived closer, I might make really fattening foods for ya and wait to see if you gained something..but nothing mean :-)

Kristin, 30 pounds – YOU ROCK!!!! I got rid of all my clothes because I thought if I ever got down to that size again, surely I would want all new – well, sometimes I want new clothes, but I’m too frugal to spend the cash now – especially when we have other financial goals we’re trying to achieve! I really need to search for a good thrift store around us – there isn’t any that I know of from word of mouth so maybe I just need to do some investigating and drive a little farther – thanks for the tip! And, keep going strong with your fat burnin’!!!

Snooty Fox by the Tyler Meijer is great! Our goodwill and SA are not the greatest around here. Thanks for the encouragement! Even with my workout bud on vaca I stuck with it and was feeling great! Keep us in your prayers. I will hold you to your promise on those size 12’s. Just put my name on the bag! Hopefully, this fall. Two whole sizes to go. That is so intimidating. See you Sun.
