Dayton National Night 2012 {August 7}

National Night Out is an annual free event where the police departments and the community build crime awareness and drug prevention.

It started as a night where you left your porch light on and locked your doors to hang out with your neighbors.  This is one of my favorite events to take the kids every year.

Old North Dayton: Stuart Patterson Park @6pm-8pm

Stuart Patterson Park is located on 238 Baltimore St. Take a break from making dinner because there will be free hot dogs, chips, drinks, cotton candy and popcorn. The kids will enjoy the bouncy house, face painting, tattoos or play in the splash park.

Dayton Police Department neighborhood tour caravan will be visit the following neighborhoods beginning at 5pm:

  • Residence Park: Second Street at Elmhurt Road.
  • Pheonix Project: Fairview Commons at 2262 Elsemere Ave.
  • Oregon District: Brown and Green Streets.
  • East End Community Center: 624 Xenia Avenue.
  • The Sanctuary at Wilmington Place: 264 Wimington Ave.
  • Wright View Neighborhood Association: 729 Burkhardt Ave

Sugarcreek Twp: Target @6pm-8pm

This event will be held at the 4341 Feedwire Rd. location off of Wilmington Pike. There will be contests, giveaways along with food and drinks to enjoy for the entire family.

Springboro: Patricia Allyn Park @5pm-9pm

Patricia Allyn Park is located on 7256 State Route 48 in Springboro.  There will be police and fire vehicles along with  Miami Valley Hospital's CareFlight.  The kids will be able to enjoy the bounce houses, pony rides, a bike rodeo.  Also, you can enjoy live music and food.

Trotwood: Target @5pm-8pm

It will be held at the Target location on 2800 Shiloh Springs Rd. They will provide hot dogs and other refreshments for the entire family.  The Dayton Gems and Silverbacks will be there as well.

West Carrollton: Wilson Park @6pm-9:30pm

The West Carrollton police will have demonstrations along with a canine unit as well.  You can see the Miami Valley Hospital CareFlight helicopter land. McGruff the crime dog mascot will be there to meet and take pictures with the kids.  Free Bike helmet fittings, food, music and trivia games will be available. Also, the kids can try to win a bike!
