It's been a year now since I started doing a weekly menu plan and it has changed dinner time in my house. The question of “What's for dinner?” wasn't one of my favorite things to hear …. especially at 4pm with no answer.
Every weekend I think about what's going on for the week. As with any busy family there are nights that require a quick and easy dinner and every once in awhile nights when we're all home. I take at look at what is in my stockpile and in the upcoming weeks grocery ads. Armed with all of that info I come up with a plan of 7 dinners. Easy dinners for busy nights and yes even a plan sometimes to eat out.
Of course this is just a plan and plans often change. Having a plan in place though means that the rush of homework, dinner, karate and sports practices is just a little less crazy.
I'll be posting my weekly menu plans here along with the links to some of my family's favorites. Please feel free to share recipes too. I love finding new things to try.
Monday: Mini Farfalle Chipotle Chicken Pasta in Fire Roasted Tomato Cream Sauce
The Picky Palate has some of the best recipes and most mouth watering pictures!!
Tuesday: Beef Stew
The meat and seasonings are already cooked and in the fridge. I'll add the veggies Tuesday afternoon and have dinner ready and waiting after the boys karate class.
Wednesday: Easy Dinner for the Kids. Steak Dinner “Date Night” after kids go to bed
A date night at home costs a lot less than paying a babysitter and eating out.
Thursday: Homemade Pizza
Using my favorite homemade pizza crust recipe. It's good on the grill or baked in the oven.
Friday: Shredded Pork Tacos
This will be a make your own Taco Bar. My boys would eat Tacos every day of the week.
Sunday: Family Christmas Open House
I'm taking an appetizer of some sort. Any suggestions?
