It's here. It's finally here. Well, I was going to share last week and the weekend completely got away from me since it was a long one. I took time to chillax with the fam. I have an important beauty question for you at the end, so please read on :)

So what's been going on in mah life? Well, I'm so glad you asked!


Let's first discuss the fam. Our boys are back to school. HOLLA!! It was bittersweet this year. T started 8th grade. I am still in disbelief that I have a 13-year old child! Caleb is in the “big” school and is in 3rd grade. And, our little babe, Andon, started Kindergarten. I KNOW! I can hardly believe it myself.


I was doing a lot of traveling (to my standards) in July and August and that has died down. Maybe you saw some of my pics from Instagram (I'm Andrea Deckard on Instagram). I am such a homebody so I'm glad to be done! The next trip I will take is to Atlanta in October to host a blogging conference, Savvy Blogging Summit.

I'll be speaking at a few local social media events over the next few weeks as well (Bloggy Conference and Summit Up). At least they are local – I can handle that!

Speaking of “speaking” :) I've added several new coupon and savings class dates to the schedule. Be sure to find a date and class that works for you. Health and Fitness

Do you follow me on Pinterest? If you do, you probably realized that I've been pinning some different stuff lately onto my Health and Fitness Inspiration board. As many of my long-time readers know, I lost a lot of weight after having Andon. I shared it here on the site for a while in my Fat Burnin' Friday posts.

I stopped writing those posts since I was near my goal AND I was getting burnt out on running. Well, this February I started focusing on a fitness routine again. I added running. I knew it would bore me to no end but I just didn't have many other options at the time. No changes on the scale and no increased motivation.

In May, I finally decided to start Pilates. There is a studio nearby that has reformers and I always wanted to try it (Pendleton Pilates in case you're wondering – they are awesome!). I know the fitness benefits were great. So, started I did. I love it! I haven't been in a month because of my schedule but it definitely did amazing things for toning (not so much weight loss). I 100% attribute Pilates with helping me gain strength in my core again!

Another reason I haven't been in a month is because I started Crossfit (at Crossfit Cornerstone for the locals). I have several friends on Facebook who do it and they rave about the overall wellness benefits. So I sipped the Kool-Aid and reluctantly took the fundamentals class to see what it was all about. Here I am 8 weeks later and am a full-on Crossfit junkie!

Crossfit is seriously the best workout I have ever had in my entire life. I'm lifting weights and seeing so many amazing things happen to my body – all things I'm doing without any machines! Doing this is shifting my perception about my body too. While I do want to lose around 15 pounds, I am so much more focused on just getting stronger.

I'm also proud to share that I did my first guy pushup last week! I'm a baby beast. My next goal is to do a full body pull-up without the assistance of a band. I am truly taking baby steps and feel like I am out of the running “rut” and have finally found something that has me excited to work out again! I've always liked working out but being in the running rut was not good at all for my motivation.

Finally, all of that to also add that I'm changing our eating drastically. Last month the Crossfit box did a Whole30 eating challenge. I started a week later than everyone else because of travel. I wanted to do it for a few reasons. First, because others were doing it and secondly because I have been feeling like I have a dairy and gluten sensitivity for a while now. I didn't lose any weight but I didn't care. I have so much energy now that I'll never change how I eat again! And, I'm 110% sure I am allergic to dairy and gluten.

This month, I am continuing but following similar eating principles with Paleo (no beans, legumes, gluten, dairy, etc). I just purchased Practical Paleo and highly recommend that if you are looking to find energy in the foods you eat. It's seriously life-changing and fascinating! I also love the cookbook, Well Fed. There are simple recipes that use basic pantry staples (minus the beans and legumes since those aren't paleo-approved). I'm also excited to share ways I've been able to save by eating this way too!

I have a question. I'm a beauty junkie and have literally tried every brand of cosmetics under the sun. What brand of foundation do you use? I'm out of my MAC and want to try something different. I'm thinking of trying a less expensive drugstore brand to do some comparison. I'd love to hear what you use!

    Wow so many changes!! Congrats on loving Crossfit. To answer your question, I love Neutrogena’s Healthy Skin foundation. I used to use Clinique, but I always felt like it was a mask. It also felt like my skin couldn’t “breathe.” Strange, I know. Anyway, since switching to Neutrogena, my skin tone (with foundation) always looks nice and even and it blends in beautifully. I think it’s a little pricey for a drugstore brand, but it doesn’t break me out and always looks nice. Good luck with your search!
