Homemade Reusable Shopping Tote

homemade tote bag supplies

How many totes do you have around the house?  I have numerous ones that I take shopping. I find myself buying more and more, and realizing that I am now overloaded with totes.  But, if I were to get one of THESE for Mother's Day, I would carry it around all the time!

My daughter did make this bag, but guess who is going to get it on Mother's Day (and be surprised!!).  It is a simple project that kids can do to even give to a special Mother who drives them to practice, or babysits for them, or a Grandmother who loves to give out free hugs.  Let them be creative and it will become a cherished item for any Mother.

{Step 1} Place newspaper down where the kids are going to be painting.

{Step 2} Let kids use their imagination and start painting.

{Step 3} When finished on one side, allow to dry for about 1/2 hour and then turn on the other side and have them finish.  Allow this to dry for about 1/2 hour.

{Step 4} Make sure you have the kids sign and date their work.  Again, another keepsake.

Project Cost

I spent about $9 but have the paint now to do future craft projects! This is a perfect gift for Mother's Day! These can also be made for a garden tote, a sewing tote, a shopping tote, etc.
