Use Cash Instead of Credit Cards

The following Everyday Savings Tip comes from, Vickie:

Try using cash vs credit cards for day-to-day purchases. We noticed that we were spending more money by using credit cards. Even though we paid them off each month, we still made random purchases because it was so convenient. We decided to try using cash, and we noticed that we did spend less money, and we were more apt to stick with our shopping list.

We still use credit cards when at the gas pump, because of convenience, and for making internet purchases. But everything else is on a cash basis.

I really need to try cash-only again since it just didn't work for us. This summer I will be taking out more to cover family activities so maybe I'll do it half and half and see how it goes. Have you done cash-only successfully?
