Stick to the Shopping List

The following Everyday Savings Tip comes from, Candie:

You need to create your weekly (bi-weekly) shopping list and stick to it. Just because something is on sale you do not need to stray from your list. You can come back at your next scheduled shopping trip and get the item. More than likely the item will still be on sale.

One of the best ways to save is creating the list AND sticking to it! My husband has been visiting the store a lot more lately and he rarely has a list. He always comes up with random stuff and spending quite a bit more than I ever would have. He is truly a marketer's dream! (my dream man too – love ya, babe!!)

  1. This is so true! I make a list based on what’s on sale and then plan our menu around that. Using our list and sticking to cash only at the grocery store–I put our budgeted cash in an envelope and only take that with me–has done amazing things for our grocery budget! The impulse purchases are almost non-existent. The greatest part is that on weeks when we’re under budget, I’m able to set that money aside to have on hand for when an item comes up for sale at stock up prices. I can’t believe what a difference grocery shopping with cash and a list has done for us!
