Homemade Bento Box

I am trying my best to be earth friendly while saving as much money as possible, especially in the throws of packing lunches every day. I love all the new “Bento” style of packing lunches, but my wallet thinks otherwise.

My daughters love kids squeeze yogurt as well. An expensive and super sugary snack that I have decided I can make much better in the money and healthy department.

Fill the reusuable yogurt turbes with yogurt and freeze. You may also fill with juice to make healthy popcicles for your little rascals, too!

Project Cost

The initial investment will cost a few extra bucks but will outweigh the other options that are available.

For example, you can find the heart silicone muffin molds for only $6.44 on Amazon. However, plastic zip close baggies, 125 pk will run around $6. You will save in the long run since you can reuse them everyday.  Also, you can pick up the plasic entree containers for a few bucks to hold your snacks.

Also, you can find the silicone reusable tubes, 4 pk is only $8.72 on Amazon.com.  Just think that a kids yogurt tubes, 8 pk can cost $1.99 on sale with coupons. I really like creating my own because I can use the healthier versions of yogurt for my kiddos.  Also, you can use fruit juice to create a healthy popcicle as well.

You can purchase these supplies for reusable lunches for about $15.  However, think how much you will save the entire school year by packing with reusable containers.  Not to mention, you are to send healthy snacks and meals for your kids.  Also, you are helping the environment as well which is priceless.

  1. I’ve had the silicone tubes on my wishlist for a while. I think it would be great for yogurt tubes, pushup frozen pops and stuff like apple sauce or other fruit sauces. A year or so ago, I found silicone muffin liners at one of the dollar tree stores around valentine’s day and have used them on a regular basis for so many different things. It’s fun to come up with new ways of playing with stuff like this and new uses for them!
