Mail Savings

The following Everyday Savings Tip comes from, Amberley:

I save money by saving the envelopes that are sent in bills etc. and using them for rebate submission or other types of mailing. I often save part of the packing slip from a package that has no print on it and use that great sticker to cover a misprinted address or a celophane window on an envelope you wish to reuse.

A box of plain envelopes range in price from about $1.50 to $3. I go through about 8 – 10 boxes per year. This year I bought one box and saved those “precious” envelopes for “important” mail saving approximately $30 annually!

  1. You need to be careful reusing the envelopes unless you cover up the bar coding on the bottom of the envelopes. The Post Office used that to send it to location from where you got the envelope. For example, if the envelope is from your electric company, the coding at the bottom is the zip code for the electric company
