frugal wrapping options

Gift wrap. Sometimes I wish I could just put everything in a plastic trash bag. But that wouldn't be very festive now would it? :)

Not only does wrapping gifts take a lot of time that seems to be futile. You wrap it, they tear through it and all of that. But, it also can cost quite a bit depending on how fancy schmancy you get with the wrap, bows and glitter. Here are a few inexpensive gift wrapping ideas to consider:

  • Decorate brown craft paper.
  • Solid color paper. Since it's multi-purpose you can also use it throughout the year.
  • Fabric – use a craft store coupon to get it super cheap.
  • Lunch bags or brown grocery bags.
  • Scrapbook paper.
  • Print designed paper on the computer.

  1. First, thank you for this wonderful blog – I really appreciate all the great information! One thing I do to save on gift wrap is to simply buy it 75% off after Christmas each year. I just buy it by the rolls; enough for the next following Christmas or two and store it under my bed. Target is one place that I can always find it 75% off. It’s usually mostly “ugly” patterns *grin* but with a little searching, you can usually find one or two cute rolls left.

  2. These are great Christmas ideas- I have found some brown paper-once the present is wrapped I will decorate the wrapping using a potato stamp, like when we were kids! I have
found some Christmas tree stencils that are cookie cutters but they can be used for the pattern
    then probably some green ribbon!
