Fat Burnin’ Friday: Does it Get Easier?

I posted this back on May 30 last year. It's interesting to see my progress from then and know my thoughts haven't changed on my perspective of this weight loss journey.

Wow – it's been 5 months {actually, now it's 1.5 years} almost to the date that I've begun my fitness journey (this time around, at least!). And, it has been very challenging and rewarding to see all my hard work and sweat (lots and lots of sweat) pay off! The tip I have this week is more of my perspective on a question I get a lot of…

Does it get any easier?

My immediate answer to this is yes…and no :-) I know, it's not really an answer then, now is it! But, my meaning in this is some days it is so hard for me to keep my endurance and motivation going when “life” consumes me. Then, there are other days when all I can think about is running and listening to my ipod! Those are the days I wish I could bottle and repeat again and again!

Each day is different and it's not getting any easier for me…but, it's not hard either. So, my point is that once you make that step and get past those 14-21 days suggested to make a habit, you'll probably think it's easier…and before you know it – you will be lighter, fitter, and badunkadunkable (yeap – my word!).

And, unfortunately I'm not any lighter this week. Given the Memorial holiday, well, I went home and my mom's fried chicken and my mom-in-laws cooking got the best of me! It's OK, I'm back on track this week and hopeful that next week will yield me something. Either way, my exercise routine came easier for me this week, but it might not be next week.

It's funny, I was down 24 pounds when I originally published this in May. I'm down 28 pounds now. What does 1 year difference tell you? I've lost the majority of my weight in those first few months. But, the good news is that it's stayed off. Even though I didn't have a loss this week, I have to look at the positives, right?

I made changes and kept them. Even if I relax a little on eating or exercise, I'm not going to just revert back overnight. At least I'm doing something right!

How did you do? Have you looked at your progress since you've started tracking your loss? Any interesting aspects to it? I think tracking is great to show you that the bigger picture is really making a difference!

You have done great Andrea. That is a huge accomplishment to keep it off and extra. That is what I am working on. I am down 52 pounds and yes I do have 18 pounds to go to my goal, but I have to work hard on maintaining the loss as well.

Actually its not as hard as work as I think, as my lifestyle has changed and I don’t ever see myself reverting back to my old ways such as eating a poptart at midnight along with a big glass of chocolate milk. NO! hehe.

Congrats Andrea! You are doing an awesome job.

My journey starts on Monday. I’ll see you there.

Congratulations! Keeping it off is a huge victory. I can’t tell you how many pounds I have taken off and put back on again. My journey is much slower this time. I have been at it since Feb. and kept off 12 – not a huge number but certainly exciting that I have consistently kept the 12 off.

I just wrote a long comment and my computer shut down. So, I will try again. I lost 1.5 lbs this week and this is the completion of week 5 for me. The accountability here is what I needed b/c I have never persevered to week 5 before! Thanks for doing this on your blog!
