DIY Project: Make an Outdoor Canopy

I'm a football mom. This means that you sit in the blazing sun and cheer for the little football stars (our son's team is so awesome beyond their football skills – proud Stallions mom here). One thing that many parents have are the canopy's that you can carry along. I thought to myself, “I bet you could make these.” Well, duh, you can make anything, right? And you can definitely make an outdoor canopy!

I found this great outdoor canopy DIY tutorial on AllYou.com. This won't work for our son's games since we really need something that can pop up and down in a matter of seconds. However, this would be PERFECT for tailgating or to use at home for a street grill-out. Here are some ideas I had for making the canopy into one for your sports team:

  • Paint each gallon bucket and/or planter alternating team colors.
  • Instead of bamboo poles, use PVC pipe that is also painted in the team's colors.
  • Get a solid color of outdoor fabric and use outdoor paint to paint a team logo.

What ways could you show your team spirit with this DIY Outdoor Canopy?
