Diet & Fitness Snack: Fat Burnin’ Friday

Well, this week was phooey…again! I had intentions to get back on the treadmill, but I had something every single night during the week. I will be happy with maintaining through the holidays. I think it's completely possible – exercise or not – as long as keep everything in moderation. I gotta remember, this is a lifestyle change, and there truly are certain things I just don't crave anymore (but not the ding dongs…I still love me some ding dongs :-).

And, I will get back to exercising. It's truly on my list, but life is getting in the way. There is just a lot going on right now. I have a big goal for next year (I am still him hawwing about it) so exercise and running will definitely have to come back into the picture 5 days a week to achieve it.

Rather than focus on what I didn't do this week, I wanted to share what I did do this week that didn't relate to exercise at all:

  • I kissed Andon's belly many times and heard him laugh so hard – truly precious.
  • We saw our Caleb Bug do his Christmas program at pre-school. Hearing him up there repeating the scripture (or doing the best he could – frankincense is kinda hard for a 4-year old).
  • Helping serve those less fortunate – it is always fun and rewarding to do!
  • Decorating our Christmas tree. We felt the excitment from our kiddos. This is so much fun even if they immediately started to fight after all the ornaments were up. Whatup?

I don't want to mislead you in that I'm not OK with the lack of exercise on my part. But, if it means I have to give up a little bit of my muscle tone and work harder when I start up next week, I'm OK with it. This is life and I gotta fit it all in and always put priorities first.

Did you make any compromises this week giving precedent to life's priorities over your exercise? Obviously, our exercise is important but hearing the laughter in my baby's voice (not like the laughter at me from my 9-year old) is worth it!

I’ve exercised twice (the week is not over yet!), and eaten at least one piece of Amish Friendship Bread (laden with nuts and chocolate) each day. And the scales have not gone down. I must get rid of that stuff! The bread and the weight! :P

I think the healthiest attitude to have toward weight/exercise during the busy holiday season is simply maintenance. Just do your best to stay at a plateau until you have a bit of breathing room.

    You’re doing a great job!

Miriam – my friend and I were JUST talking about amish friendship bread!!! Get that out of the house immediately :-)

Mare – you’re such an encouragement! I need to get my butt running with you…but you’d smoke me horribly :-)

This is totally how I am feeling. Ha-and I just started. I’m so glad I stumbled upon your site and that you are doing Fat Buring Friday. I started a blog and am doing the same sort of thing but on Wed. Anyways, I am having such a hard time because we have been to party after party and I’m such a snacker. I think Marrianne is right. I will focus on maintaining what I have :) and then kick butt after all the cookies and cake are gone for the season. Thanks for sharing this. I’m glad I’m not the only one out there doing this:)
