WPAFB | AFMC’s Freedom Call Tatoo

This Friday, June 24 will be the seventh annual Freedom's Call 2011 at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. This is a free family event that honors our military and those that serve our country.  This year, they will have a special tribute to recognize the tenth year anniversary of the attack on Sept 11. Here are some the highlights:

  • Military flyovers
  • Jump Teams
  • National 9/11 Flag
  • Kid Friendly Play Area
  • Live Music
  • Tattoo Ceremony
  • Fireworks Display

Gates will open at 4pm.  Country perfomers, Lonestar will perform at 9pm followed by the anticipated Fireworks display at 10pm.

There will be plenty of free parking on base and you may enter at the gates for the Museum, Armory or at Spinning Road without base ID. Also, a free shuttle is available from the Nutter Center in lot #8. If you choose the shuttle, they will run every 4-11 minutes from 4pm-11pm.   Please note that Airway Road will be closed between Spinning Rd.and Woodman Dr.

You can bring lawn chairs, blankets and camera.  You will NOT be able to bring coolers, backpacks, skateboards, in-line skates, glass bottles, or weapons for security reasons

We are planning on going to this event and I know my boys will LOVE it!  I just hope the weather cooperates!  Anyone else planning on going or do you have any helpful hints?

Don’t park at the Nutter Center! It takes forever to get to the festival, and the line for the shuttle back is VERY long!! Also, if you park in the field, it’s a looooong walk. So don’t bring too much stuff to carry, or you’ll be sorry. But be sure to bring what you need, because you won’t want to make the long walk back to the car. Bring small toys and things to keep the kids busy before the concert. The concerts are awesome! Just be prepared for the long walk to/from the car.
