Free Weekend Dayton Events: October 12 – 14, 2012

Here are a few events that you can do with your family that are Free this weekend.

Saturday, October 13

2nd Street Market: Pumpkin Decorating @10am-1pm

Bring the kids out to decorate pumpkins from Garber Farms.  You can get creative for your pumpkin to create a fun Halloween Decoration.  You do not have to register for this event.

Waynesville: 43rd Sauerkraut Festival @9am-8pm

This is one of the biggest and one of my favorite festivals in the area.  There will be 450+ craft vendors along with many food vendors as well.  You will want to try some of the unique food made with sauerkraut.   One of my favorites is the pizza.

Yellow Springs: Street Fair @9am-5pm

There will be over 200 vendor booths selling just about anything.  You can find arts and crafts, clothing, jewelry and many more.  There will be live entertainment and food available to purchase.

Iams Homestead Museum: Pioneer Harvest Fest @10am-5pm

This free event is held at the Iams Homestead Museum located in Trotwood.  You will go back in time to see some pioneer farming demonstrations, car displays, and even corn husking.  There will be food for purchase as well.

Lowe's Build and Grow: Ghoul Bus @10am-12pm

Be sure to register the kids to build their own Ghoul Bus.  Each participant will receive a kit, goggles, apron, project theme patch and a certificate of completion.

You will want to register the kids to ensure their spot.

Toys R Us: Nickelodeon Activity Day @12pm-2pm

You can bring the kids to design their own Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle mask and help SpongeBob to solve a mystery.  This is while supplies last and recommended for kids ages 5 and up.

Carriage Hill MetroPark: Nocturnal Wetland Romp @7pm-8pm

Get ready to get a little muddy looking for frogs, insects and fish.  You can even try to catch a few while learning about the ecology of the wetlands.

Be sure to wear old clothes and shoes that can get muddy.  Registration is not required to participate.

Sunday, October 14
