Free Dayton Events | May 13-14

Here are a few things going on around town.

Washington-Centerville Library | May 14 Civil War Days from 11am-2pm

Here is your chance to experience life as a Civil War soldier. They can experience the following:

  • Formation Drills
  • Bayonet Stacks
  • Campfire
  • Rifle Firing
  • Music by Steve Ball
  • Games and Family Activities

This event will be held in the lawn outside of the library.  They will be dressed  in period costumes and 6th Ohio Volunteer Infantry will be conducting the rifle firing re-enacting.  Sounds like a great hands on history lesson to me!  Should be fun for the whole family.

You may want to check out some of the interactive hots spots including:

  • Free Photo Booth
  • Paint the Street
  • Jelly Bean Art
  • Courthouse Square for the Main Stage

There will be free trolley service available but most participating locations are within walking distance.  You may choose to ride around town on the Free Yellow Bikes located throughout Downtown.

There will be special discounts and giveaways during this event. I know that the Dayton Art Institute will be giving away a Museum Membership which includes  reciprocal membership to over 15 museums in Ohio.
