Dayton Free Weekend Events: September 21-23, 2013

Here are some fun, free, family events going on in the Dayton area this weekend.  There are a few festivals for pretzels, buttercream icing and Hispanic heritage.  You can even touch a truck, learn about flight or even build your own firetruck.

Saturday, September 21

Lowe’s Build and Grow: Firetruck @10am-12pm

Take the kids to Lowe’s to build their own Firetruck.  It is free but you will have to register to ensure your spot.

All participants will receive an apron, goggles, project themed patch an a certificate of completion.

Vandalia Recreation Center: Touch a Truck @9:30-12pm

Bring the kids out to see some really cool Big Rigs, Firetrucks and more.  This will be fun for kids of all ages.

Riverscape MetroPark: Hispanic Heritage Festival @12pm-11pm

Come out to Riverscape to celebrate Hispanic Heritage.  There will be plenty of salsa, merengue, tejano, latin jazz, cumbia, and bachata music and Latin inspired food for purchase.

National Museum of the Air Force: Family Day @10am-3pm

Learn about how the lighter than air helps in flight.  They will focus on the gases in the atmosphere that help with hot air balloons. There will be hands-on demonstrations, storytime,

Carriage Hill MetroPark: Country Fair @10am-5pm

Come out to Carriage Hill MetroPark for an old fashioned Country Fair.  They will be games and activities for the kids, re-created livestock auction, pie baking contest and more.  The kids will love the pumpkin rolling contest.  You can see the event schedule here.

Germantown: Pretzel Festival @9am-9pm

Located at Veterans Memorial Park in Germantown.  They will have live entertainment, vendors and more.  I love pretzels and this would be a fun festival with the kids.

ele Cake Company: Buttercream Festival, 10am-6pm

Seriously, this is the best buttercream icing! They will have craft vendors, live entertainment, kids activities and bounce house.

Carriage Hill MetroPark: Country Fair @12pm-5pm

Come out to Carriage Hill MetroPark for an old fashioned Country Fair.  They will be games and activities for the kids, re-created livestock auction, pie baking contest and more.  The kids will love the pumpkin rolling contest.  You can see the event schedule here.

Germantown: Pretzel Festival @9am-5pm
