Dayton Free Events | August 5-6

Here are some free events that you can do this weekend in the Miami Valley!

Extra Innings Miamisburg: Family Fun Night, August 5 @6pm-9pm

If you love baseball, you will want to come out for this free event!  Here are some of the highlights of activities planned for this evening:

  • Free Food
  • Free Tunnels for Batting or Pitching
  • Wiffle Ball Games
  • Pitching Contest
  • Door Prizes

My boys love baseball and I know they would have a blast.  This sounds like fun for the entire family!

 

Twin Creek MetroPark: Stars & Meteors, August 5 @8pm-10pm

Bring lawn chair and/or blankets to view the night sky.  There will be stories and discussions on meteors and some of the common constellations.  The campfire program will end at 10pm, however, the parking lot will still be available for a self-guided stargazing throughout the night.  If you have portable telescopes, you are encouraged to bring them them.

Reservations are recommended but walk-ins are welcome.  You may call 937/277-4178 for reservations or questions.  This event is a Passport to Nature.

Home Depot Kids Workshop: Pencil Box, August 6 @9am-12pm

This project is geared to get the kids ready for back to school.  They will be making their very own pencil box for the upcoming school year.  This is geared toward kids ages 5-12 years old.  Every participant will receive the kit, kid-sized orange apron, and an achievement pin.

You do not need to register for this event but you may want to get there early to ensure your child receives a kit.

Fort Ancient: Community Open House Day, August 6 @10am-5pm

Bring the whole family out to Fort Ancient to learn more about Indian Culture and History at Fort Ancient.  There will be hands-on activities that will be fun for the whole family to enjoy.  Admission will FREE the entire day so you will want to take advantage if you have not been.

SunWatch: Community Open House Day, August 6 @10am-5pm

Bring the whole family to explore Indian Culture and History at SunWatch for their Free Community Day Event.  There will be hands-on activities for the entire family throughout the day.  Admission to SunWatch will be Free this day only and will be a great opportunity to explore with the kids.

My kids love walking through the Indian Village and sitting in the huts!  If you have not been, the kids will Love it.

Young’s Jersey Dairy: Vintage Truck Show, August 6 @9am-4pm

If you have kids that love trucks, then you will not want to miss this event at Young’s Jersey Dairy.  There will be over 100 antique trucks from all over the country for this event!

While you are there, take advantage of the ice cream deal of the week.  You can get two dips of Cow Patty Ice Cream for the price of 1.  Yummy!
