Cut Costs by Comparing Unit Price

The following Best Savings Tip comes from reader, Cyndi:

I used to buy the larger package because I thought I received a bigger discount. Then, I started looking at the unit price and realized that this was the best way to comparison shop.

If the unit price isn't broken down, then I take the cost of the item and divide it by the ounces in the bottle or box in order to determine my own unit price. This has saved me a lot of money by shopping this way versus going on just the price of the item.
