This weekend it’s supposed to be in the 70′s! Finally a break from the heatwave! Don’t be caught indoor, get outside and enjoy some of these Free activities while you are at it!

The Taste of Colerain

Come out to the 23rd Annual Taste of Colerain this weekend! There is a lot of fun to be had and of course Food to try! There will also be some non-food related booths to visit and of course Live Entertainment on the stage each day!

Be sure to check directions before you head over, Free parking and shuttles are available. The event map will help you navigate the festival. Hours are Friday 5pm-11pm, Saturday 4pm-11pm and Sunday 3pm-9pm.

Friday

Heritage Village Museum: Down by the River 7pm

The Rivers Institute Traveling Theater Company will put on a Free performance of “Down by the River” tonight at the Heritage Village Museum. The event is family friendly and no reservations are required.

Saturday

Community Arts Centers Day 2012

Community Arts Centers Day is an annual celebration of community arts centers throughout the Greater Cincinnati area. The participating organizations will host an Open House featuring participants of all ages celebrating their communities with creative costumes, masks, banners, musical instruments, and more followed by FREE ice cream socials made possible by United Dairy Farmers.

Program times vary based on Center. Check the schedule to find a program close to you!

Lowe’s Build & Grow Clinic: Shrek Dragon Ride 10am

Kids can build their own Shrek Dragon Ride craft at the Lowe’s Build & Grow Clinic this Saturday. All project materials plus an apron, goggles, a project themed patch and a certificate of merit will be Free for each participant. Register online to reserve your spot!

IKEA Family Friendly Activities 12pm-6pm

Have some shopping to do at IKEA this weekend? Need to bring the kids with you? Coming on Saturday afternoon may be just the time for you! There will be several family-friendly activities throughout the store. A Balloon Artist will be in the Restaurant 12pm-4pm. A Face Painter will be in Kitchens 2pm-6pm. Airbrush Tattoos will also be available in Kitchens 3pm-7pm.

Rusty Bucket: ParaNorman Back-to-School Family Day 1pm-4pm

Come to the Rusty Bucket at Rookwood this Saturday for a back-to-school family fun day! There will be several giveaways including movie passes to see the new animated film ParaNorman, notebooks, pencils and more! Also, kids will receive a complimentary scoop of ice cream with the purchase of a kid’s meal.

Sunday

Findlay Market  7th Annual Blue Barbeque 12pm-4pm

Wrap up the Cincy Blues Fest at Findlay Market on Sunday with live music, BBQ and Christian Moerlein beer. Bands will play every hour on the hour at the OTR Biergarten. Food will be available from the Essen Strasse weekend vendors.

OTR Second Sunday on Main 12pm-5pm

While you are downtown enjoying the Blue Barbeque at Findlay Market, stop over to Main St for the Second Sunday on Main! The Second Sunday on Main is a hip, urban neighborhood street festival that takes place the second Sunday of each month through October. Activities include live band performances, artists and vendors showing and selling their wares, beer, food and Celebrity Chef demos. This Sunday’s Free Celebrity Chef and Wine Pairing  begins at 2:00pm in Japp’s Annex (two doors north of Japp’s at 1134 Main) featuring Chef Mark Bodenstein from Nicholson’s Gastropub with Farmer Richard Stewart from Carriage House Farm. Doors open at 1:30pm.

The event is dog, bike and kid friendly!

Washington Park: Shakespeare in the Park – MacBeth 7pm

Come to Washington Park this Sunday evening for a Free presentation of MacBeth as part of the Shakespeare in the Park series put on by the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company. Bring chairs, a blanket and a picnic basket. Look for me, stop and say hi, I plan to be there!
