34th Annual Taste of Cincinnati

Come enjoy the Taste of Cincinnati as 40 restaurants featuring various dishes gather on 5 blocks of 5th St. downtown this weekend. The Taste is the longest running culinary festival in the country. It is also one of the most populated street festivals in the nation!

Be sure to sample one or more of the top cuisine winners this year. Taste of Cincinnati USA is also a music festival, with continuous live entertainment featuring local and national recording stars performing on multiple stages throughout the event.

Check directions and parking information ahead of time to orient yourself to the event. The event runs Saturday and Sunday, May 26 and 27, 2012, 12pm-12am,  Monday, May 28, 2012, 12pm-9pm.

Saturday May 26

Findlay Market: Shopper Orientation Tour 10am

Are you a new Findlay Market shopper or a veteran who shops the very same stands you started 20 years ago? The market is ever-changing. The non-traditional shopping environment can be confusing even to long-time shoppers. Now you can get your questions answered by experienced Findlay Market shopper-docents.
The Free tour begins at the Internet Café at 10:00 am and does not require a reservation. Find the Internet Cafe on the market map.  Plan where to park ahead of time to avoid confusion.

Lowe’s Build & Grow: Ice Cream Truck 10am

Kids can build their own Ice Cream Truck at the Lowe’s Build & Grow Clinic this Saturday. All project materials plus an apron, goggles, a project themed patch and a certificate of merit will be Free for each participant. Register online to reserve your spot!

Sharon Woods: Creek Walk 2pm

Wear your rubber boots and come explore Sharon Creek with a naturalist and find out what lives there! Bring a net and bucket if you have one. A limited number of nets and buckets will be available.
Event is Free. Valid Hamilton County parking pass is required; $10 annual, $3 daily.

Cincinnati Astronomical Society: Spectacular Saturn 8:30pm-11pm

Come see the rings of Saturn through a powerful telescope in Cleves on Saturday night. First enjoy a free presentation, then astronomers will train their powerful telescopes to the sky. Activities & displays for all ages. Program and activities go on cloudy or clear, viewing is weather permitting. We did this a couple years ago and it was amazing!

West Chester Parks & Recreation: Stargazing 9pm-11pm

West Chester’s Keehner Park is hosting Dayton and Cincinnati Astronomers Society so the public can get a view of stars and planets with their powerful telescopes. Astronomers will be on-hand to help with the viewing and to answer questions about stars, planets and other heavenly bodies.

OTR Biergarten: Live Music 12pm

Come hear the music of The Dalton Street Gang at Over-the-Rhine Biergarten at Findlay Market. The Biergarten is set up with cornhole outback and offers to store your market groceries in their free cooler. Grab some hot food from the market, a beer from the Biergarten and kick back for this Free live show.

Winton Woods: Wildlife Weekend 1pm-3pm

Drop by Winton Woods harbor anytime during 1pm-3pm to learn about Ohio wildlife through some fun nature activities, games and meet some live animal guests.
Event is Free. Valid Hamilton County parking pass is required; $10 annual, $3 daily.

Local Memorial Day Parade Information

National Museum of the U.S. Air Force 9am-5pm

Come enjoy the history and memorabilia of the United State Air Force on Memorial Day presented by the Wright-Patterson Air Force base. Admission to the Museum is Free. IMAX movies are available at a cost and discount packages are available.

Miami Whitewater Forest: Nature Festival 1pm-4pm

Lots of family fun is available at Miami Whitewater Forest’s harbor! Kids can enjoy a bird-feeder craft and face-painting! Families can participate in a scavenger hunt for prizes and learn all about the natural world through games and hands-on activities.
Event is Free. Valid Hamilton County parking pass is required; $10 annual, $3 daily.

Blue Ash: Memorial Day Concert 6pm-8pm

Blue Ash/Montgomery Symphony Orchestra will be performing a concert honoring our nation’s heroes and patriots on Monday evening at Blue Ash Towne Square (rain location Sycamore Junior High). The Blue Ash Youth Symphony, directed by Dale Swisher, will perform during the second half.
