Regal’s Summer Movie Express offers G or PG rated movies every Tuesday and Wednesday at 10am June 12th through August 8th at Deerfield Towne Center Stadium 16 in Mason. They are not first run movies, but there are some great ones on the schedule. The best part is that tickets are just $1 each! Combine the cheap tickets with the weekly concession coupon that Regal puts on Facebook each Thursday and you have yourself a fun morning with the kids that’s not hard on the wallet!

Cincinnati Museum Center has released it’s 2012 Free Fridays calendar! You can get into any of the three museums Free on Fridays June 8, July 13, August 10 and September 14 from 4pm-8pm. Come and visit Duke Energy Children’s Museum, Museum of Natural History & Science and/or Cincinnati History Museum Free of charge!
This is a great opportunity to come explore, have fun and learn all the museums have to offer without hurting your wallet. We don’t have an annual pass this year, so I know we will be down there on one or more of the Free Fridays!

Smale Riverfront Park: Grand Opening Celebration 6pm-9:30pm
The Cincinnati Park Board will celebrate the Grand Opening of the completion of phase 1 of Smale Riverfront Park this Friday evening. The dedication will occur at 6:15pm and be followed by a concert and fireworks.
This is a family friendly event and will include several Freebies including ice cream, face-painting, jugglers and balloon-makers. Food will be available for purchase at the Moerlein Lager House adjacent to the park. Patrons are welcome to bring food and picnic on the lawn while enjoying concert music performed by Cincinnati Super Choir, Tropicoso, Swampthang and many more!

Cincinnati Public Library: Cincinnati Choral History Book Launch 2pm-4pm
The book launch of A City That Sings: Cincinnati’s Choral Tradition 1800–2012 takes place this Sunday at the Main Library in the Reading Garden Lounge. The May Festival’s new book is the first full-length chronicle of Cincinnati’s contributions to choral music. The program will include a panel discussion featuring the book’s four authors, moderated by Cincinnati Pops Orchestra conductor John Morris Russell, brief performances by MUSE Cincinnati Women’s Choir and the Martin Luther King Chorale, followed by a book signing. Books will be available for purchase from Joseph-Beth Booksellers.

Glenwood Gardens Spring Plant Sale 12pm-6pm
Glenwood Gardens is having their annual Spring Plant Sale this weekend. Native plants for shade, sun and wet habitats will be available for purchase.
In addition to plants for sale, there will be several presentations throughout the day(s), including Proper Planting Techniques, Landscape Design Basics and Common Cents Landscaping. It looks like it will be a great time to shop and do some learning along the way!
A valid Hamilton County Park District Motor Vehicle Permit ($10 annual; $3 daily) is required to enter the parks.
Cincinnati Art Museum: Monet in Giverny: Landscapes of Reflection 11am-5pm
This is the last weekend to see this exhibit at the Cincinnati Art Museum. The exhibit includes 12 masterpieces from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, including the Japanese footbridge, water lilies, and wisterias. I had several of these prints decorating my apartment in college. It’s exciting to see the originals in person!
Admission to the museum is Free. Parking is $4, however check surrounding parking lots and the street for Free parking.
Special Event for Moms: Whole Foods Rookwood Pavilion 10am-12pm
Moms come take a break and indulge in a brunch, tea tastings, facials or mini-massages, a fashion show, door prizes for some, gift bags for all! Childcare will be provided! Hurry and register because there are only spots for 50 Moms!

My Cincinnati House Series: The Boulter House
Come to the downtown Cincinnati Public Library on Saturday to see and hear a presentation on The Boulter House of Clifton by the current owners of the home. This home is one of the last designed by modernist architect Frank Lloyd Wright. The presentation will take place on the 3rd floor of the Main Library in the Genealogy & Local History section.
Over 100 area artist’s work will be displayed, hosted by 18 of Mount Adams original establishments. The walk is Free, but there will be drinks, food and music to purchase along the way. The weather looks like it may hold out for this event, but it will go on rain or shine!

Museums & Historic Sites of Greater Cincinnati invites the public for Museum Day 2012 on Fountain Square Wednesday, May 9, 2012, 10am-2pm. Museum day will feature more than two dozen local museums and historical sites from the tri-state area. There will be several hands-on opportunities, including looking at genealogy files and maps from the Delhi Historical Society, sun-gazing with the Cincinnati Observatory and participating in a Junior Ranger Activity with the William Howard Taft National Historic Site.
Did you know there are over 60 museums and historical sites open to the public in the tri-state area? There is much to learn about our history and the arts locally and beyond. Come on down to Fountain Square on Wednesday to get a fun sample!

Kids Bowl Free is back and running for Summer 2012 Now – September 5! Registered kids receive Two Free Games of Bowling Every Day all summer long for up to six children!
A Family Pass can be added for a one-time fee of $24.95. The family pass is good for one game of bowling each day, for up to four adults! You can add grandparents, older siblings or the babysitter. The Family Pass can only be used while bowling with the children. If you don’t add the Family Pass right away, you can add it at a later time.
When I checked the site, I noticed that there are no bowling alleys in Cincinnati or the immediate Cincinnati area in Ohio. I followed the link on the Kids Bowl Free website and requested that a few bowling alleys in Cincinnati be added. I suggest you do the same and together maybe we can get some more bowling alleys to participate!

Each bowling alley’s registration page includes the hours of operation for the program. The program is for kids ages 15 and under. Bowling shoes are required and available for rental, usually for around $2.
We have had a blast with this program for the last several years. It’s a wonderful alternative activity when it’s too hot to play outside or the weather is inclement. I’m excited to sign up again!
