Christmas is all about…

I had to share this personal note that our son, Caleb wrote. It is so sweet that a first grader would write something like this. Maybe we're doing something right, right?

The true gift, for me, this Christmas is this letter in general in many forms. Caleb has had a challenging year with reading, phonics and writing. When I found this letter on the counter, I thought it was T's, and started to wonder why he misspelled some of the words. After asking Caleb, he proudly owned the letter as his own. He has made so many strides in the past few months with the learning challenges and this letter is a true gift to me and his daddy this Christmas.

Obviously, the bigger gift for everyone is exactly what Caleb wrote. God gave his Son to be born on this Earth. This is the reason to celebrate this weekend, and truly every day of the year!

This Christmas, I pray that you find peace amongst the mountains of wrapping paper and crazy relatives (I'm not the only one that has 'em, right?). Jesus can bring you an overwhelming sense of calm, joy and love even amongst the craziest of days. After all, He's used to chaos – His birth story is pretty unbelievable!

Merry Christmas!

  7. All I have to say is amen! to your son and everyone else’s comments. It’s just very encouraging isn’t it? My son who is 4 the other day told me,”It’s not about the presents,or the food,or the tree-it’s all about Jesus.” The Lord works in young and old alike-hallelujah!

  8. Love, love, LOVE it! I have kids with challenges of their own and it is amazing what we see if we take a step back and really pay attention to the progress they have made! Bless Caleb for writing this! My oldest son (10 yr) last Sunday evening decided to open his bible because he wanted to actually READ about the birth of Christ in Luke since they had discussed it in Sunday School that day! AMEN! :)
