Apple Turkey Craft

Who says you can’t have fun with your food? This easy to make Apple Turkey is the perfect hands on activity for your little ones to do this fall season. You will find that it doesn’t require a great deal of supplies, and you can easily whip one up in just minutes.

Kids will love this easy to create craft, and you will love that you can make it for just pennies. Now that is something worth gobbling over!

DIY Apple Turkey Supplies

  • 1 Apple (medium sized)
  • Craft Feathers
  • Assorted Pom Poms
  • Non Toxic Craft Glue
  • 1 small piece, Orange and Yellow Construction Paper
  • 1 pair, Googly Eyes

It is suggested you use non toxic craft glue if you wish to eat the apple when done. If so, the pieces can be easily removed and the apple rinsed well before eating. Also, you can find the feathers and pompoms as dollar stores and general craft stores (don't forget to use your coupon!).

DIY Apple Turkey Directions

  1. Rinse your apple well so the embellishments will adhere well.
  2. Choose 5-6 feathers and press them into the back of the apple. Or, you can use craft glue and glue them to the back. You can do this just by applying a generous dab of glue and pressing firmly into place.
  3. Choose a larger brown or tan pompom to use as the turkey’s head. Apply a dab of glue and press it to the opposite side of the apple as you applied the feathers. Press it firmly into place and hold for a few minutes to make sure it adheres.
  4. Beneath the brown pompon, add a smaller, red or pink pompon. This will be the turkey’s gobbler. Apply it as you did the head.
  5. Add a drop of glue to both googly eyes and attach them to the head of your turkey.
  6. Now your turkey needs a beak! Cut a small triangle out of a piece of yellow or orange construction paper. Glue it under the turkey’s eyes.

There you have it! In just a few minutes and with a few supplies, you have a whimsical turkey perfect for decorating your fall table! If hosting a dinner you can make one for each place setting, or just make a few for your mantel.
