Homemade How to Clean Microfiber
If you have children and a piece of microfiber furniture, chances are you have looked for something to clean the cloth. It's forgiving but gets dirty really quick!

I had heard of using alcohol on fabrics before but I was leery, and afraid it would leave water spots. However, because the alcohol evaporates so quickly it doesn't leave any marks on your fabric, its a natural disinfectant and cleans perfectly. I used a lot of alcohol, probably more than I needed too but once I saw how well it removed dirt and ink I went a little crazy.

Microfiber Furniture Cleaner Supplies

  • Alcohol (70%)
  • Spray Bottle
  • Scrubbing Sponge
  • Soft Scrub Brush

Microfiber Furniture Cleaner Directions

  1. Pour alcohol into your spray bottle.
  2. If your cushions detach, vacuum your couch out well.
  3. Either take your cushions outdoors or open up some windows so you aren't overtaken by the alcohol fumes.
  4. Test a small area on your couch or cushions.
  5. Once tested, spray your cushions well – literally saturate them.
  6. Scrub them pretty aggressively, again test a small area first.
  7. Let your couch and cushions completely dry.
  8. Take a clean, soft scrub brush and rub all over couch and cushions in a circular motion to restore the nap of your microfiber.

Once the alcohol dries, there is no odor. And since it is a disinfectant it also works really well for removing surface odors.

Having your couches cleaned professionally could cost several hundred dollars. This way cost about $4 and 2 hours of hard work – more than worth the price difference! But from the┬ábefore and after, you can see that this works!┬áLet me know if you give this method a try!

Although this post is from 1/2 a year ago, I wanted to say thanks, as I am going to try it this weekend! Looking forward to seeing the results, but will spot test, especially since you mentioned it twice :-] And I don’t want to replace the couch *wink* But even 6 months later, your posts have not gone by the wayside :-]
