Homemade 2-Ingredient Play Dough

Sometimes you just need a little fun project to occupy the kids when playing outside is limited. This Play Dough recipe only takes 2 ingredients – yes, that’s it! It is something you can whip up quickly using items in your pantry.

Stock up on inexpensive conditioner like the VO5, which is often under $0.50 when on sale and using coupons. Use your favorite conditioner scents to make the play dough smell nice (although, I have grown to love the original Play Doh smell!). This recipe is super soft and nice smelling and literally takes minutes to prepare.

Play Dough Ingredients

  • ½ cup, Hair Conditioner
  • 1 cup, Corn Starch

You can also add some essential oils as you mix the dough to have additional scents if you prefer. This is totally optional.

Play Dough Directions

  1. In a small bowl mix together hair conditioner, corn starch and food coloring (if desired) until it forms a smooth dough.
  2. Knead the dough on a clean counter for 2-3 minutes to help incorporate well and make smoother.
  3. Depending on the brand and amount of liquid in your hair conditioner, you may need to increase the corn starch in small increments. 1-2 Tablespoons at a time until desired texture is achieved.
  4. Store in airtight container or plastic wrap when not in use.
