Instead of paying $7 for a similar sized bag of store bought dishwasher tabs this homemade version runs me less than $1 for the same amount – a substantial savings! They work just as well as name brand too so you aren’t sacrificing quality.
If you already make your own laundry soap you should have most of these ingredients on hand, and a quick trip to the produce stand for a lemon will finish it off. You could also use an orange, or a lime to toss up the scent, just remember add the juice slowly so you can control the texture (oranges obviously yield a lot more juice).
I also purchased a 2-pack of ice cube trays from the Dollar Tree to use as molds for my tablets. This recipe makes 28 tablets (2 ice cube trays).
If you have made some of them a little bigger than your dishwasher soap dispenser will hold ,just crumble it a bit or toss into the bottom of your washer.
