Clean the Dryer

The following Everyday Savings Tip comes from, Shirley:

One great tip I would love to share is to take your hose off your dryer twice a year and vacuum well. Pull out your dryer and vacuum underneath, and vacuum under your lint filter cassing. You'll be surprised how much lint you will pull out.

  1. Also, it is highly recommended to have your dryer duct cleaned out at least once a year. Just last month another resident here in my Condo complex had a fire start inside her dryer from lint build-up in her duct. She wasn’t home, and smoke started seeping into other people’s units, and another resident called 911. The firemen came and had to break down her door. Luckily the fire hadn’t spread yet, and her little dogs didn’t die from smoke inhalation, which was a good possibility. So yes, lint fires do happen.
