Walgreens Balance Rewards: Limit One Offer Per Transaction

There has been an important change to the way that Balance Reward Points at Walgreens operate. If you shop there frequently, this can certainly affect you!

When the Balance Rewards Points plan first rolled out, you were able to get multiples of a deal on your card. For instance, if you were to receive 2,000 points for buying 3 items, and you purchased 6 of those items, you would receive 4,000 points.

This is no longer the case.

Now, if you purchase 6 items in a group of “get 2,000 points when you buy 3″ you will only receive 2,000 points. If you want more, you will have to do a separate transaction, just as you would for a Register Reward.

In the above receipt, 9 items were purchased, but as you can see, only 2,000 points were applied.

Just remember that if you want rewards on all the items you are planning to purchase you will now need to break up your transactions.

Thanks for the info and the picture, Frugal Finders!

Has this been verified with Walgreens? And if so is it on all Balance Rewards deals? The reason I ask is I was at Walgreens yesterday and bought 6 candybars that were part of the “Buy 3 get 500 Balance Rewards Points” and I received 1000 points just as I was expecting. Those were the only things I bought so it was definitely the candybars that gave me the other 500 points.

The original poster (Frugal Finders) spoke with their manager and was informed that this is the new policy. However, just like Register Rewards, there are sometimes glitches in Walgreens system. We just don’t want anyone to be surprised at the register! Hopefully they will issue an official policy on this soon. We will let you know if they do!
