*NEW* Meijer Coupon Policy

Meijer just updated their coupon policy, and there are some very important changes that we want you to know about. It is very important to us that coupons are used properly, so we strive to keep you up to date!

Here is the most up to date Meijer Policy:

Meijer accepts manufacturer, Catalina manufacturer, Meijer, Catalina Meijer, mPerks, internet, and competitor coupons within certain guidelines.

  • Coupons must be presented on or before the expiration date
  • All coupon terms and conditions must be met and validated by the checkout register
  • Customers may use up to one manufacturer/Catalina manufacturer coupon with one Meijer/Catalina Meijer coupon per item
  • Two coupons of the same type may not be used toward the purchase of a single item
  • mPerks offers cannot be combined with paper coupons (manufacturer or Meijer) toward the purchase of a single item
  • Transactions cannot be broken up to avoid coupon stacking restrictions
  • Separate checklanes will not be opened or designated for customers with large coupon orders
  • Manufacturer coupons and Catalina manufacturer coupons require the Customer to pay sales tax on the full retail amount
  • Meijer, Catalina Meijer, and competitor coupons require the Customer to pay sales tax only on the discounted price
  • Meijer will accept coupons from major competitors in each store’s trading area, for Grocery and or for Health and Beauty Care items
  • Meijer will accept coupons from major competitors in each store’s trading area for General Merchandise items only if the competitor’s price point is included. The item must be the identical item on the coupon for the match to occur.
  • Meijer does not accept competitor coupons for beer, wine, liquor, cigarettes, double and triple coupons, clearance, percent off, total trans- action discounts, special promotions, gift card promotions, limited quantity items, mail-in rebate offers, and going out of business sales
  • Meijer reserves the right to limit coupon quantities and to determine the order of application of multiple coupons and/or promotions

So, that’s the new policy in a nutshell. The most striking changes are that mPerks can no longer be stacked with manufacture coupons and they gave a better outline to their competitor coupon policy.

This just made me really sad… I recently said that I was starting to like Meijer better than Kroger…. now… I am sad.

My Meijer usually will only double up to 2 coupons per item. For example, if i have 3 $0.50 off coupons for a certain item I will only get $1 off for 2 of the items. Do you know if this still applies? I didn’t see anything mentioned about this in their new policies.

Ashley, this is usually set by the individual stores. Most Meijer stores that I know of only do the two coupons doubling, but there is one in the Cincinnati area (Milford – at least as a few months ago) that will double up to six. As far as I know, most stores are still keeping the limit of two, but if anything official changes, we’ll let you know!

Looks like they would accept a Target store coupon even if it is not a manufacture’s coupon .Meijer will accept coupons from major competitors in each store’s trading area, for Grocery and or for Health and Beauty Care items

“Transactions cannot be broken up to avoid coupon stacking restrictions” No offense, but I do like this because did you ever get stuck behind someone who did 10 different transactions just to save with coupons!

Truthfully, I wonder how this is effecting those people who were on Extreme Couponing now that there are limits like this in place? Too bad they can’t get pissed because they did this to themselves and ruined it for many other people.

I have a serious problem with not having multiple orders “to avoid stacking restrictions” b/c I usually do have my own order as well as my elderly MIL’s & my father’s orders. It’s enough of a hassle without having to deal w/ them telling me I can’t separate the orders.

I’m also curious on if the limit of 2 identical coupons per order is still part of their policy.

Carrie, this is usually set by the individual store, so I am assuming that there are no changes to this portion of the policy. We’ll let you know if any other changes occur!

Meijers in our area is reading “to avoid stacking coupons” as “to avoid the doubling only 2 like coupons”. They are not allowing ANY additional transcations, period. I tried to explain I wasn’t stacking coupons, to no avail. So I emptied my bags onto the belt, asked for my coupons back and proceeded to Kroger 1/2 a mile down the road where they doubled all my coupons with no problems and it only took one transaction. Sad that to save a few pennies here and there, not only is Meijers not going to get my non-couponing business (clothes, car oil, shelving, etc.) but they’re going to send business to their competitors. It’ll all shake out in the end. I’m used to changing stores as they change and misinterpret their own coupon policy.

I too was told today at the Avon, IN Meijer that I could not do two transactions in order to double more of my coupons. I was handed a copy of their new policy that said you could not split transactions to avoid stacking coupons. I was not stacking, I was just trying to get the most out of my coupons. I usually have 4 of each one. I have never had this problem at Kroger. Oh well, guess I’ll just shop at Kroger now.

I was there last week and did 4 transactions. I will see how it goes this week. My Meijer in Indianapolis IN doubles any coupon .50 and under and then rounds up to 1.00 on any other. If they won’t let me split my order they can’t tell me I can’t exit the store and come right back in. If there are good deals this summer like last summer you bet ill do that. Also help that I usually bring my boyfriend with so he can do a transaction.
