Shop for Brown Bananas and Save

The following Everyday Savings Tip comes from, Carrie:

Don't throw away any banana that's too ripe. Besides the more normal use of banana bread, bananas (especially frozen ones) are an awesome addition to smoothies or even milkshakes. You can sneak frozen bananas into milkshakes and if they're a really ripe one almost no one will realize that you packed extra nutrition into a sweet treat.

Bananas freeze great! Peel them and wrap them in plastic wrap and store them in a freezer Ziploc style bag. You can even shop for the over ripe bananas (and other fruit for smoothies) at the edges of lots of produce sections in your grocery store (where they discount the too ripe produce) and stock up your freezer when you can get them cheap.
