Introduction to freedomRail

Over the past few months I have been working with freedomRail to makeover our master closet. When I was first contacted to work with the closet and organization solutions company, I wondered how I could add value and translate savings with custom storage organization that is typically anything BUT affordable.

During this time, I have taken the time to learn more about the solutions freedomRail offers. I have learned a great deal about the quality of their products compared to their competitors. After looking for quite a while for an affordable solution, I’m excited to share more about the options they have available for custom storage needs.

First, you should know that organization is not my forte. Since the time we moved into our current home, we have wanted needed a nice, organized closet. What has stopped us? Um, they are like thousands of dollars! Finding something was never a priority in the grand scheme of our saving and spending. All of the options were way out of our price range so this need was tabled since we needed more time to research other solutions we could afford.

As we began to look at different storage solutions, we liked the custom built options. However, those, again, were way more than we wanted to spend. We knew a nice system would not be cheap but we also knew that we didn’t want the cheapest either. We have always focused on quality over quantity and try to save to ensure we can afford that.

As I looked at the freedomRail options, I was happy to see they offer wood veneer finish. We have a open-air rail system now that was installed by the builders. It wasn’t working (as you can see by the pictures below). Because of this we wanted, and needed, a wood finish that was durable. Most brands we have considered are flimsy plywood which wouldn’t hold what we needed whatsoever.

freedomRail Closet Makeover (before pictures)

Yes, I know it’s ridiculously messy. Yes, I realize we (mostly me) have too much. Yes, by showing these on the interwebz, my husband is probably mortified. At least his side is organized (the top picture) :-) In my defense, this was coming off of a few weeks of travel. I am a clothes thrower when I can’t find what I need plus I wait until the last minute to pack. That’s enough excuses…

Next month, I will share the after photos with you. Granted, the before was really bad (just keepin’ it real, ya’ll). Our reveal photos are AMAZING! Not just pretty but completely functional. It’s a system I know I can actually use for the long haul!

And since I have bared my virtual soul, and closet, with you which is somewhat embarrassing, will you do the same? I am giving away $100 cash! I would just like the answer to this one simple question. What is the biggest organizational challenge you are dealing with? So, humor me and let me know.

I’ll select one winner randomly on November 22. The winner will need to have a Paypal account since the payment will be sent via Paypal. It’s so much easier for me to send this way rather than a gift card. This should help you get your Christmas shopping started off right :)

Giveaway is now closed. Thank you for entering!

Truth time? I’ve got too much stuff. My space is full of stuff I don’t use and probably won’t use, and I don’t do well with keeping the stuff I do use in an organized fashion – I start to slip and then just stop :(

I have 1 closet in my house ( besides what’s in the bedrooms) and in that closet is our water softner! I have no storage in my house anywhere…I have totes with stuff in it and stacked up. So unattractive when I have company..but I have no where to put anything!!!!!!!!!!!!

The whole house! We live in an older home when closets were less important. The bedroom closet is super small and won’t even hold all of my clothes – my poor husband doesn’t even have a closet.

My biggest organizational challenge is my PLAYROOM! It looks like your closet, a daycare room, and the toy isle at Walmart on Black Friday all combined. I think we have carpet in this room, but I haven’t seen it in years. With 4 kids this is my biggest challenge:-)

we ( boyfriend and i) moved to arizona into a 1 bedroom apt after living in a 2 bedroom in nebraska… and the only apt available in the complex we decided on is a handicapped apt…( we arent handicapped)… so that means i have no space under my kiitchen sink nor the cupboard next to it due to them removing the cupboards so a wheel chair can fit under the counters.. same with the bathroom.. nothing under the sink there… if that isnt bad enough… there is no closet space except for the reg size closet in our bedroom…. with me being a couponer… its really frustrating to have to try and find spots anyway.. this just limits me even more….. but i am creative at times on where to put things…

My biggest challenge is my master bedroom closet…..we have the wire shelving that the builder put in and it’s not adequate…..it doesn’t utilize the space that we have. We do weed our clothes out and get rid of things periodically. The bottom line is that we have space that needs to function better for us. We haven’t done anything with a new system for the same reasons that you listed.

    Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

My husband comes home every night and dumps everything out of his pockets/in his hands on the coffee table. Receipts, lip balm, bottle caps, medicine – you name it and I’m sure I can find it on my coffee table. Then the cats jump on the table, even though we yell at them every time, and knock his stuff into the floor! I can not for the life of me keep the coffee table/living room floor cleared of clutter. We moved from a 2 bdrm townhouse with basement into an old 2 bdrm farmhouse. The basement is always damp/wet so I have lost ALL my basement storage plus the closets are TINY (some aren’t even deep enough to hold a regular hanger…how is that a closet??) there are loads of other issues too, so it is constant clutter in our house. Luckily, photos are not required :) I have always had a hard time organizing toiletries and cosmetics. It has something to do with accumulating tons of product over the years as a cosmetics/skincare consultant! I know it’s gross, but I still have some products from high school and let’s just say I’ve been out of high school for awhile (I just found a marykate+ashley lipgloss in a bathroom cabinet the other day, lol).

My biggest challenge is that we live in a very small old house. Which means 2 tiny closets (if you can even call them that) and no pantry, no linen closet and 6 cabinets (for both food and dishes). So we have stuff everywhere. Everytime I try to organize and go through things it just gets worse! lol

My craft room/study is terrible right now. I’ve got a bookshelf and two old filing cabinets as well as a desk in there, but the room is so tiny that everything’s just piled on top of everything. It’s so junky I haven’t even been able to set up the chair I bought from IKEA for the room back in March. I keep trying to work on it, but if the baby starts crying then I can only get a project about half done. The furniture in there just doesn’t work for the room and I definitely need something better in there for my sewing machine than my grandmother’s old end table.

The biggest organizational challenge I’m dealing with is my kitchen – I have very little counter/storage space, every kitchen appliance known to mankind, and a growing stockpile. At the moment I’ve got canned goods and dried pasta/rice/fruit in copy paper boxes stacked in the corner. Well, we’re currently living in the basement of a friend’s house. (A husband, wife and 2 kids – 3 and 4). We consist of my husband, myself, our almost 4 year old daughter and 15 month old son. Our space is VERY limited. WE have a large living area which is our “living room”, my husband and I’s bedroom and sometimes our kitchen/dining room. The kids are sharing a small bedroom. Since it’s a basement 1) there’s no closets…So we currently have bars stretched across any open tiles in the ceiling to create clothes lines. There is NO shelving. So our stuff is stacked up on top of the dresser and the VERY large pool table that is in the basement (our living room). We also have clothes piled on the pool table. There’s no “vanity” per se, for the bathroom so we have a bored stretched across the utility sink to hold our toothbrushes and soap. needless to say, that 100.00 would go a LONG way for us. We could buy some wardrobes and another dresser (the kids are sharing a dresser currently) and maybe a large toy box for their toys that just seem to end up in a pile on the floor b/c there’s no storage for them…

Books, clothes and toys! I haven’t had a garage sale in years – we have too much stuff piling up, our attic and basement are overwhelmed! Our kids get so much, it wasn’t like this when I was growing up! Thanks for the chance to win this awesome prize!

I need help organizing my bathroom closet (medicines, towels, travel items, etc all on white shelving with those rails that have gaps between them so stuff gets stuck and falls through!).

My mudroom never seems to stay organized.
